Very confusing. Rare shuts down all discussion of PvP and PvE and then turns around and creates both in the game.
Rare Hypocricy
I think he's mad about on demand pvp but no pve servers. Which is kinda hyp. 🤔
Ima go ahead and get this thread locked. Why not pve servers now? This whole on demand thing isn't going to be the backhanded blessing to pve that they're touting. The pirates that bother pve players "just to ruin the session" are still going to do so. The sink on sight ships will still do so. The galleons will still sink sloopers.
Focused pvp is the only thing that's going to get filtered off and most of them don't bother pve players much anyways.
Alright. I'm done. Lock er up.

There are a lot of contradictions in the game but opt in pvp is removing those that want a challenge and/or consenting combat which is directly creating less pvp on non fighting pve
Whether pvp on demand stays popular or not remains to be seen but some will ALWAYS use the feature and that means there will always be less random adventure hunting, a direct benefit to pvers.
and they created instanced tall tales, check points, loot mermaids, which were also implemented to take some pressure off pve.
There is hypocrisy to be found in alliance servers and hopping pvp when it comes to what new players are told when they are struggling but season 8 is one that benefits non-fighters to some degree even if opt in/consenting pvp doesn't remain super popular.

No one sinks people just to ruin their session. And the few that do get banned for spawn camping. If PVE players are actually doing PVE, they’re going to have loot.
You have loot = I’m going to sink you
With the exception of tall tales and adventures, everyone is fair game because either
A) they have loot
Or
B) they’re looking for PvPAlso having an on-demand PvP system but not PVE servers is not hypocritical because it’s a PvP system, not a PvP server. Also, a PvP server wouldn’t be hypocritical either because it wouldn’t ruin the balance of the game. Arena was a PvP only server and it didn’t affect the gameplay loop of adventure at all. PVE servers would.
What I think is important for pvers to realize going forward is that no matter how you feel about the new season or the environment or direction of the game, starting Tuesday there will be less people looking for you.
I would use that to your advantage, play to the world that exists not one that you wish existed. You will have more wiggle room to pve. You will still get attacked and you will still lose fights and loot but there will be less pvpers interested in you going forward.
If you intend to stick around the game and/or are considering playing again it will be an environment where your chances improve.
Highly successful season or not it will be the best odds you've ever had as a non fighting pver, and the best odds you've ever had to see less combat against very skilled players.
It's something to consider if you pve and don't want to fight.
euhm Rare doesnt shut down all discussion around pvp and pve
they shut down discussions about PVE only servers, why ? because they have stated it on a ton of occasions that they will not ever happen.the game is PVPVE or PVEVP however you want to see it. so yes, they work on both pve and pvp stuff
@wolfmanbush true so long as those pve'ers don't opt into grinding the new factions. The moment they do though they better be ready to fight.

I have my doubts on the hype when it comes to how active some think this is going to be but the people that go for the cosmetics will be fine for a while if the skill based matchmaking formula is strong.
People getting instantly wrecked in an adventure scenario is what burnt many out on pvp
If people vs players that aren't wildly overpowered compared to them it will be a more pleasant experience.
It was the wild west of sweatiness that made a lot of combat unpleasant and amplified the running in adventure, it was never really the losses as much as it was how people were losing. This can begin to repair that for even pvers if they give it a shot.
@wolfmanbush I certainly hope the update lets more people practice pvp in a better scenario which will hopefully lead to more people going back to the core of the game which is getting loot and then defending it from attackers instead of just running or learning to be hunter's themselves.
