Aristocrat canon change

  • Aristocrat, obsidian, silver blade canons all share the same model with this horrible thing attached to the end. This makes them absolutely unusable, and I havent seen anyone use any of those canons during my 800+ hours of sailing SOT (ok maybe once, but the player was new.) Can we please have their model reworked with all the gems moved to the new end of the barrel, without the attachment. They have such a cool design apart from that thing, shame using them is a death sentence.

  • This makes them absolutely unusable

Unusable you say? So what happening? You unable to fire the cannons or make shots?
Because I can tell you, I’ve used the silver blade and make shots with them.

It called practice. I liked the silver blade cannons so I practiced until I found the aim

  • @burnbacon Im glad you are, but dont measure every player by yourself - what you can do, doesnt mean others can. If I were to fight again myself, with one of us having silver blade canons and the other having stock, the me with the stock canons would win. They are unusable because 99% of the playerbase cannot make accurate shots with those canons. They are one of the least used canons, and I understand why

  • I'm as equally mediocre with any cannon skin, as long as flairs aren't equipped I'm fine.

    Lies! Ignorant lies!

  • Yeah, I really wish they’d modify the design a bit so they at least don’t give you a disadvantage by using them. Sure you can get used to the trumpet but I personally like being able to see where my shot is going without moving my cannon down.

It’s not like they haven’t modified cannons in the past to be able to aim with better. OG Bone Crusher, Ocean Crawler, Tribute Peak and even Relic of Darkness have had model changes.

  • @burnbacon do you try to find a reason for things not to be added? I swear I always see you being negative for the sake of it, without any real substance.

  • seems reasonable to me

  • @galactic-geek do u have data to say otherwise?

The burden of proof lies with the 1 who made such a bold statement. 😉

  • @galactic-geek my proof is that out of hunderds of players I have encountered only 1 new player used them. People would use them if they were confident with them, cuz design is fine. So that my evidence, and apparently u have none to prove otherwise)

  • They're not unusable. They just have a different learning curve than most other non-elongated models.

Cannoning takes practice and repetition. If you get used to playing on the shorter models and then switch up to any of the longer ones, it feels awkward and players are inclined to immediately switch back and discount the longer cannons and call them terrible. The unfortunate part is that nobody wants to (rightfully so) deal with that slight learning curve.

They're not terrible, they work just the same as all the other cannons. They just require a slight adjustment compared to shorter models.

Choosing cannons based on not having to adjust is metagaming at its finest. There's nothing wrong with that, but let's call it what it is.

Not using them, having confidence to use them effectively, and then actually using them ineffectively or effectively are all entirely different things. You said they weren't using them because the cannons are bad, which simply isn't true - they work the same as any other cannons. That's different from saying that they don't use them because they assume it will be worse. The cannons themselves don't matter. A new pirate has to adjust to using the default cannons just as an experienced pirate might spend some time to adjust to a cannon with a flowered muzzle. That's not a problem with the cannon though; that's a pirate problem.

You're also forgetting other factors. For example, half of the flower-muzzled cannons are either hard to get (obsidian and Silver Blade), or are just ugly (both Aristocrat and Mercenary). It may have nothing to do with the actual use of the cannon at all!

They're not even the ones to really worry about anyways - I'd worry about those red-box cannons (whose name escapes me right now).

  • @galactic-geek oh red box are horrible, but i think they are either emporium reward or plunder pass, dont remember. The whole point I had, would be nice to have the aristocrat type model adjusted without the last piece. If not for practical reasons then at least for aesthetical ones.

  • @guyrza I run the default cannons. All the cool looking cannons like this block your vision. I agree they should rework the end of them.

  • @ninja-naranja dude, burnbacon shows up on every post to fight people. Literally every single one. He always makes a half coherent statement designed to make people mad. He leaves them and doesn't respond to the people the reply to him because his only goal was to make someone mad.

    he's basically the edgy anti-hero.

  • @iloveponies15 it is super confusing for sure. Doesn’t really add anything to the conversation either.

  • How do you get to Carnegie Hall?

    PRACTICE

+1 if you get the reference.

@guyrza aren't you one of the ones suggesting loading up Phantom fleets to target PRACTICE? I dunno maybe you should PRACTICE with them a little bit instead of asking for the game to be changed because you're too lazy toPRACTICE?

The same advice hurled at so many people who don't like pvp?
