FPS cap and ship harpoon improvements

  • My old computer gets very hot and be a bit laggy if I play Sea of Thieves at 60 fps, so I have to cap fps at 30. It would be cool if you could limit the fps to 45, the game will be smoother than at 30 fps plus not so much load on the system.

It would also be cool if you could pull yourself in with a harpoon. That is, interact with the harpoon arrow (like with a mermaid). After the interaction, the arrow will unhook and pull you onto the ship, but as with the mermaid, there should not be any chests in your hands.

  • @san1st5922 If you didn't already know, your crewmates can shoot you with a harpoon and reel you in....with a chest in your hands even.

  • @dlchief58 I know, I just play alone, but even if you play with friends, one player first needs to get on the ship to grab the second, and so you can use the harpoon arrow to instantly get on the ship, without going far, you can immediately pick up a friend or a chest .

  • @Frogfish12 Guess we found another item we could replace the stopwatch with. 😛

On a serious note, this sounds like a good idea, but that also makes board plays completely broken, especially to those dangerous corsairs that love finding/getting gifted great resources for fights against rich targets needing to defend themselves from those dangerous corsairs.

I assume what they mean by harpooning yourself is basically tether yourself on the harpoon and press a button to reel yourself back in onto your ship. And that you could walk around at limited distance while tethered.

Idk this kinda seems either op or completely useless. If you cant pick up items then why would a solo player be using this for PvE. You'd have no reason to jump onto the Island with limited range if you cannot collect items. Likewise in PvP this would be either be useless due to limited range, or very op if the range was far. It would allow you to attempt a board, miss, and immediately pop back to your boat. If the distance was short then it would be such an easy board you basically cannot miss, so having the tether wouldnt be overly useful.
