The Sovereigns and the new GSO?

  • Currently, for obvious reasons, there is no sign of the Sovereigns coming to Golden Sands Outpost. With the outpost's recent victory, can we expect to see the Sovereigns arrive? Or will they arrive behind schedule, if at all?

I have also noticed that, for the time being, the cannon emplacements are still there. Does this mean GSO will be something separate from other Outposts? Something perhaps greater? Will the other outposts also start to further differentiate themselves from the others?

    Let's speculate! 🤔

Addendum: I recall the days when outpost shops only offered specific cosmetic items - Admiral cosmetics could only be found in the Shores of Plenty, Sea Dog cosmetics could only be found in the Wilds, Sovereign cosmetics could only be found in the Ancient Isles, specialty cosmetics could only be found in the Devil's Roar (Bone Crusher, etc.), and Bilge Rat cosmetics could be found anywhere. I wish we would go back to that style of commerce, as it encouraged exploration and travel, and further differentiated each outpost (and region) from one another.

  • Yeah, I do agree. It would be nice to have some more variety to the outposts again and give players more of a reason to explore the different areas.

I was hoping they would rebuild GSO with the same style as the sea forts, with reinforcements and stone buildings.

  • I think over time the Pirate lord will build up all the others to reflect the armaments at GS. Perhaps they will start to specialise. Would be pretty cool if like the Ashen Lords each outpost specialised in something in the war against RB and Flameheart Jr. Maybe one outpost would be a producer of gunpowder, another a producer of cannon balls, etc.

A side note to your post, I wonder how long the fog will kinda linger over GS. On my game this morning it still looks pretty green mistish?

  • @hijack-hayes Fog will unfortunately lift when the adventure comes out next week. Still mad we lost lol.

  • It’s kind of funny that the fog disappears because Reapers lost. Like, losing doesn’t mean you can’t make the ‘life’ of the Pirate Lord harder, especially by keeping the fog there. Lore wise, I don’t think it makes much sense, but game wise, it helps a lot.

Also, huge yes to making cosmetics outpost-specific

  • Yea, I really miss Outposts having their own unique stock of items by region. People complained a bunch about it back when it was a thing, but I always felt it was short sighted. It would certainly make the Shop menus less cumbersome now that we have an additional 3 or so years worth of cosmetics that have been added to the stocks over time (with no doubt more to come over the next 6 or so years of the games intended lifecycle). Now they are all just a massive mess of stuff. I would really love to see this be reimplemented in the game.

I still stand by that I would love to see Taverns have different house brews of Grog that cost coin but convey a limited effect of some kind (meaning that when you drink it a timer starts counting down immediately so that the effect it gives wears off - nothing too extensive, at most like 5 minutes). You could still get free refills on your basic Grog there as well, this would just be an added option that costs some coin since it would provide some limited benefit. Each Tavern could have a unique Brew that they serve (some dialogue even supports the idea that this is a thing). Your Ship would always contain the generic Grog as well so if you want to grab one of these buffs you have to swing by an Outpost and hit the Tavern.

Just for a little more Shopping experience, I'd like to see the Resources spread out a bit across the Outpost or some new options added to the various spots. Honestly, the Shipwright could sell a basic Rowboat for some coin (the one that just has a Lantern on the front) - much like Supplies this would give a choice to pay some coin for access to some basic stuff at the start of a session, or you can invest some exploration to go find one of the upgraded options out in the world. I'd also be very open to the Gold Hoarders selling a single Collectors Chest for some coin, in much the same way we can get a Storage Crate from the Merchants (to sort of indicate that they double dip on Chests we cash in by taking the Gold - giving us our cut - and then selling the Chests right back to us to try and get back more of that cut like the greedy folks they are). That would give you a little more reason, if you were inclined to do it, to run around and do some shopping before you start your session (or even part way through your session).

This would really give some more purpose to the Outposts, in particular at the start of a session, but also reason to potentially drop by in the midst of a session. You'd have unique stocks at Vendors, a series of supplies for your Adventures, and access to some temporary Effects that would be minor but might make something you plan to do slightly easier. I'm sure not everyone would agree with all of that, but it is the approach I would consider personally.

  • Love the idea of making cosmetic offerings different at each outpost. I'm sure the current setup is more a means of catering to the casuals, though.

Regarding Golden Sands Outpost, I'm hoping that all the cannons and other "fortification" elements stay in place. Having the Reaper's Hideout be the only turn-in spot with those things is boring. I'd actually love to see some minor defense/offense mechanics at all of the outposts. Maybe have GSO be the most fortified of all of them, but surely all of the other outposts will want to do at least a little preparation in case they are next on Flameheart's agenda.

@Musicmee @triheadedmonkey I made this post 2 months ago. Was this what got me banned from Insiders? Were the Sovereigns publicly known then?

  • @galactic-geek

I’m sorry to hear that you got banned from the insider program. I don’t wish that upon anyone. I hope you can get it resolved and join the insider program again

Considering Suppoort specifically told me it was permanent and would not be reversed, I doubt it. I just hate not knowing which post got me banned - they at least could have told me that...

  • Hi all!

Resurrecting threads over one month old goes against our Forum rules. I will be dropping anchor here.

    Thanks!
