Condisering how easy and fast sea forts are, how good the loot is and how there isnt an event marker above them, why would anyone spend time doing a regular voyage anymore?
Im afraid this could kill activity on islands.
@alienmagi especially for newer pirates with lower tier quests sea forts are insanely overpowered. A stone key gold vault vs the new sea forts is a joke.
anything that bumps the emissary up and gives people a point A to point B journey based on their preferences has value in the game
They undoubtedly have value. Perhaps too much value.
These are supposedly designed for novices or casual, short sessions; but the supplies you get from them are more than enough to sustain long grinds. The loot you get is all high tier & you can reach a grade 5 Reaper after ~3 forts. Fewer if you stop by shipwrecks or pick up flotsam loot.
I think for the time & effort required (or lack of), the rewards are incredibly unbalanced. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a nerf in both the supplies & loot eventually.
I didn't do a whole lot of voyaging before, but I did use World Events to level up the Reaper's flag. Since the update, I've just been one-tapping ghosts for an easy grade 5. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Imo shrines, fortresses and low-level voyages should reward less than vaults, MA shipwrecks and emissary voyages; which should reward less than World Events.
@gallerine5582 said in Did the new Sea Forts make voyages useless?:
Since the release of the Vaults/Shipments/Fleet quests, all the original quests have been useless, may I argue their uselessness since they added more world events after skeleton fleets.
Not useless - in fact, to any new pirate under level 25, they're not only useful, but are all they've got (without a crew).
Not at all, completely different offerings to me. Once the novelty of the sea forts wear off it will most likely be a healthy mix of action that we see across the seas. You have to remember new content is always going to be flavour of the month and dictate player interactions for the first few weeks/month.
depending on your intention yes they have made things obsolete, or rather they have increased the factor of things becoming obsolete.
the supplies need to be toned down. alot. anyone loading into the game should first goto a fort to maximise output for the session even if they dont intend on killing a single npc. when a mechanic in a game like this is so obvious its not good for a game that promotes a play as you want style of gameplay. loot wise probably not
