GeForce NOW

  • Hello! Please consider adding your Sea of Thieves game to the NVidia GeForce NOW cloud gaming service. There are many popular games out there, but no games from your publisher. Service support says that the game will be easily added with the request of the publisher

That's more of a Microsoft decision rather than a Rare decision.

I personally don't think this is likely, since Sea of Thieves is the flagship of Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass. Yet, they added Sea of Thieves to steam, so who knows?

  • @speeyx or you can just use Xbox Cloud gaming which allows you to play hundreds of games, including sot, on Consoles, Phones, desktops, laptops and even some TV's

  • @callmebackdraft

Have you actually tried playing via xcloud? Just curious it seems like it would aggravate many of the issues people complain about for example hit reg. I’ve played a few single player games and they perform impressively, just curious how the multiplayer games compare

  • @louiscyphere1 i played around with it a bit, mainly on my iphone, but since i didnt have a controller connected the control scheme was sub par (touch controls just aint my thing for stuff like this)

didnt test it in any pvp scenarios, but the main issue would not be the hitreg as we encounter it currently but more so the latency between the stuff happening in game and it getting streamed to your device and then sending your reactions back to said game.

really strapped for time lately to test it out further, work, family, house remodelling is taken up alot of time and i have a game and software suite in development as well.

  • @callmebackdraft
Thanks, like I said just curious.

  • Game Pass Ultimate is €1 for the first month, worth checking it out there, as it's unlikely to be added to GeForce Now. There's zero incentive for Microsoft to allow that.

As for how well Xbox Cloud gaming works with Sea of Thieves. It's surprisingly not bad, though temper expectations a bit.

From my experience testing it, the image is quite soft (I am used to playing at 1440p and it seems to be around 900p-1080p to my eye). I saw a little bit of artifacting also, though not awfully frequent. That said, the core quality looks pretty great (shadows, textures, lighting, etc...).

In terms of input latency, it's noticeable when you're used to playing locally with a controller. Felt like playing on a 150ms-200ms Ping server. Doable but definitely noticeable. Though you may get used to it after a bit. Probably good for some casual PvE, but I wouldn't be going looking for PvP.

Sea of Thieves cannot be added to GeForce Now due to one very simple but fundamental reason: GFN does not support Win10, which is mandatory for SoT to run.

That being said "the ball" is now in GFN's hands. There is already a very old and very popular request on GFN forums for this. However, to this day there is no official reply as far as I know.

Perhaps a simple e-mail from a @Rare official with a few words on requesting their cooperation on the matter could be enough to push GFN into finding a solution?

Not available in many countries though, even EU ones such as mine (Bulgaria). Spent one whole afternoon one day trying to make it work, without success.

People resort to GFN due to low PC specs. It requires you to own the game already, so the price of the pass really is irrelevant here.

And as I mentioned XCloud is not available in many countries anyway, so it's not as ideal solution as GFN practically.

There's zero incentive for Microsoft to allow that.

Don't say that just because you own devices that can run SoT properly. There are hundreds of thousands of people who are unable to afford decent gear. I myself know at least 5 such people.

So having Rare/Microsoft iron things out for something so simple as being able to run SoT through GFN will MORE THAN SURELY be a very quick and easy win that will not only enable more players to play SoT, but also net them income while doing so.

  • Hay nuevas noticias sobre esto?? // Is there new news about this?? :(

  • @rast3ck Considering there have been no updates regarding this, very unlikely.

You also just bumped a 3 month old thread and it's getting locked now.

  • As Nex said, this is an old post. And it goes against our forum's rules to revive old threads. (Thread necro.) As such, we will be dropping anchor on it here. Thank you.
