Idea for NPC spawn

    I have sent this idea when "A Pirate Life" release. Hope it still help for "game deverloper".

    "Thank you for your hard work new release with a pirate life. It bring me and my crew really back to sea of thieves world. I'm guessing all Rare team still need alot of work to complete the bug from new update. However, I would like share my idea to the team into this new update (hope it will help abit).

    We are join the sea of thieves world with so many different type AI monster on the island (Skelly - Crawler - Phantom), but let them spawnd together and mix them in the same condition will not bring special for each of AI.

    This is my idea:
    Skelly - let them spwand like normally
    Crawler - Spawnd in big Island and in the morning
    Phantom - Spawnd in night time

    This will make each type of AI more specical and not look like mix stuff just spawnd like ant, this will make player will less enjoy the fight and it really annoying sometimes."

  • @vi-eta-niamo You want to limit the type of encounters based upon time of day? Why would a Phantom fear daylight, or a Crawler the night? What if you're still fighting them as day turns into night or vice-versa? Do they just retreat?

    That sounds terrible, IMO!

  • AFAIK they have already reduced the chances of spawning different (new) types together.

  • While strictly limiting things might not be the way to go, increasing the chance of certain spawns under certain conditions could actually be interesting. This could be based around any number of things: day/night, fog, storm, etc.

    You'd still maintain the randomness, but there could also be some basic strategy and tactics employed by players to better influence what they might encounter. In this way players could learn how to either try to hunt or avoid certain types of creatures based on preference while still always encountering everything the game has to offer at any potential time.

  • Just my opinion, and this idea since "the pirate life". But anyway hope it might help a little for future. Haha

  • @galactic-geek It maybe good idea for my opinion, it feel more unique for phantom and they just disappear when the sun come up, just like fishs. Spawn random not gonna hurt anyone, but if player want to pay for more attenion to type of NPC they have to deal with like different type of skelly. This idea it not too bad after all, aye ?

  • I think something interesting they could do with phantoms is remove them from islands entirely and remove rowboats from islands and have phantoms randomly spawn in on the ocean in rowboats rowing around. When someone gets near they will stand up and shoot and sword when close

    I think this spices up both phantoms and rowboat spawns, I don't think many people have been fond of them or have grown fond of them on islands especially when it comes to blowing peoples kegs so this addresses that

    is the rowboat in the distance a player or a phantom?

    trying a swim play to escape with something or hunt? don't have a rowboat? you might get lucky on the way and one spawns in

    makes for some interesting scenarios imo

  • @wolfmanbush that maybe good idea to have ghost ship spawn random like skelly ship. However, seeing ghost spawn right in-front of your adv on the island (maybe at night) gonna still make more intereting I guess.
