Poorly Timed Enemy Spawns

  • I feel that there should be a grace period for random enemy spawns such as Megalodons or Skeleton Ships after PvP combat with another crew. I know this is going to trigger the toxic PvPers but my main crew and I are PvE players. While trying to grind out Hunters Call rep by doing Thieves Haven runs, we were attacked by a gally of very skilled and toxic PvPers. By toxic I mean spawn camping, keeping our ship floating to kill us more, private messaging us league of legend slang… they even placed all of our gems in a broken mast then repaired it to hide them… Anyways, the main reason they even caught up to us was because of a Megalodon spawning and attacking us while being chased. After being killed over and over we lost our moral and kinda gave up which made them get cocky and start playing music before killing us. Using that as an opportunity we managed to actually turn the tides and sank them but a ghost ship gally spawned and we had no resources to fight anymore by this time and it kept us at bay long enough for the PvPers to make it back and finish us off while we were being attacked by the skeleton ship.

    1. Why is it possible to have things such as Megalodons spawn while we are already dealing with a 3v4 disadvantage?

    2. Why is it possible to get attacked by a skeleton ship immediately after spending over an hour being mixed in PvP combat?

    3. Why was the toxic PvP gally spawned so close to make it back to us so quickly?

Even though I understand the forced PvP in the game, I don’t understand why all of this should be possible. If we are going to have Megalodons and Skeleton Ships randomly spawn and we can’t have PvE servers then atleast make it to where nothing can spawn randomly during or shortly after PvP combat. And please spawn sunken players on the opposite side of the map or even have sunken ships spawn on a different server… We had the fight of our life already that night and we only won the first round because of luck and prayers. Round 2 shouldn’t have started so quick and mercilessly.

People love to say “it’s a prirate game” when the words PvE Server is said but last I checked, Sunken Pirates stayed sunk as well.

  • Ghost ships are not skeleton ships - get used to that.

As for it spawning, it's just bad luck with the game's RNG. However, your crew not defeating it in a timely manner before the other crew returned is simply a matter of skill.

Your crew not scuttling and switching servers to start over fresh away from such disreputable pirates is a sign of stubborn pride.

If your only goal is to get gems from the TH run to give to the HC, that doesn't exactly require that you finish the current voyage - just restart and continue collecting more gems. Don't make things harder than they need to be.

It could have been just as easy gone the other way around and you would have been cheering Meggie or the Kraken when they would have gotten their attacks on the other crew.
You also could have tried to ignore the PvE and sail on or try to get rid off Meggie or skellie ship.

Even when you're grinding you shouldn't have more on board than you're willing to lose, so your loss shouldn't be more than a few gems IMO. Easily gotten in the time you spend fighting the other crew I think. On a Thieves' Haven run, going to the seapost is only a small detour.

An on toxic play, if they are toxic, report any real toxic play.

  • know this is going to trigger the toxic PvPers

    Nope. Pvpve players only.

Why is it possible to have things such as Megalodons spawn while we are already dealing with a 3v4 disadvantage?

Because it fun? They are monster creatures with one thought, eat. They don’t care.

By toxic I mean spawn camping, keeping our ship floating to kill us more, private messaging us league of legend slang… they even placed all of our gems in a broken mast then repaired it to hide them…

That isn’t toxic. Besides the private messages. Block and report them. You being spawn camped? S-c-u-t-t-l-e. You lost control, give up.

Come on…hiding gems on a ship? Pff

Sunken Pirates stayed sunk as well.

Yeah blame the ferryman. Bring back the dead so they can keep going without issue. Have e dare he do that to everyone.
Last I checked, skeletons were dead yet they walk around.

SoT is a pirate “fantasy” adventure game. Between reality and fiction there are lines. And in the very end…it’s a game. Don’t get bent out of shape for players also playing the game

    /thread.

  • @burnbacon I’d count people keeping your ship alive just to spawn kill you AND are sending messages to you, toxic. If they were just getting supplies then that’s fine but I draw the line at trying to make people rage quit.

no…just no…all you do is go back to saying you dont have skill…your gunna tell me you have never ran out of resources battling ships to then get spawned on by a skeleton ship or a meg and have nothing to fight with? come on…yes this game can do better by spawning sunken ships further away than they do….you shouldnt be forced to scuttle or switch servers..hence the toxicity of this game…you ever realize how many times you have responded the same way: get good, just scuttle and change servers, etc ridiculous you dont see its a growing issue of toxicity…just because you may not see it often doesnt mean it doesnt exist..you do only play on xbox servers

  • @radiantwolves I love the random spawns. I love the Skelly + Meg spawn during a fight with another boat. We have had it go real good, and go real real bad. It is Just how RNG shakes it out. That is fun for a lot of folks though, but understandably frustrating when you lose loot. However its part of the game! I vote for don't change a thing RARE! Keep the PvE spawns coming at us!

  • @madfrito99 There is nothing toxic about a ship that attacks you, gets sunk, and that tries to come back to enact revenge! That's just pirates being pirates. Now, being vulgar - that can be considered toxic. And spawn-camping, while frowned upon, is not against any substantial rules.

  • After reading everyone’s comments, I still believe a good change would be to have people spawn at the furthest island location from where they sunk should be considered. And the scuttle solution is just laziness in my opinion. Even games such as GTA Online have consequences for grievers and toxic members of the community. Scuttling is nothing but a reward for these players by not only getting your loot but the satisfaction of breaking your will enough to just give up. All this does is encourage them to continue their behavior.
