The REAL Pirate Games

  • Since adding emissaries, Sea of Thieves has focused on adding new PVE content. I think there's more juice to be squeezed from player interaction. Scenarios where combat is AN outcome, not necessarily THE outcome.

I would love to see Pirate Games become a server-wide phenomenon. Add a list of symbols (like semaphore flags) mounted inside every boat.

Between each world event, a flare goes up in the sky with a random symbol from the list that the entire server can try for, if they want.

    Events could include:
—Ring the bell at the top of the Sea Dog Outpost
    —Sail through Thieves Haven
—Sell 5 mermaid gems at Daggertooth Outpost

Special cosmetics are rewarded to players who are first to complete ALL the events.

  • I think it would prove to be difficult to keep this thing poppin'

It's difficult to keep a lot of people running emissaries and there is tremendous personal benefit for doing so. Throwing out a list of chores to chase would have people try it out maybe but ultimately I don't see people investing time into this at any rate that would result in it being considered successful

Not saying your idea is bad it's just a lot of things like this don't really end up with the activity as intended

  • The problem with implementing events like these is player involvement. We only have 6 ships per server, and these games are only fun with competition. When the event starts, you will be lucky to get other participants. Everyone is already doing their own thing, I don't see them stopping just to do this. When you get low involvement, games like this are just not fun. Competing against yourself only appeals to some people, hardly the majority.

  • The reason this event doesn’t have cosmetics is that they just came off a big expansion and the team needed a little break. I’m sure the next event will be more exciting

  • @prescafatty

Woohoo another event that nobody will do... if you want to attract players you need to make the actual gameplay fun and engaging. Rewards are cool and all but very quickly run their course and become meaningless and dull.
