Fix the screen tearing on XBox series X

  • Hi,

Can you please fix the screen tearing on Xbox? This is a Microsoft game studio and I never had as many graphical issues than with SoT. It's even worst now with a Pirate's Life update.

This kind of issue should be the #1 bugs to be tackled as it's Microsoft's top hardware right now. This issue has been raised for months numerous time on reddit and twitter already.

    Thanks

PS: still no XboxX/S tag on the forums?!

  • Umm. Screenshot? I’ve seen a few of these topics and I’m curious what they are talking about or what these tearings are.

    I’m on Xbox series x

  • I've seen a bit more of this as of late when playing on my Series X. Sometimes it will look like there are glitching rigging ropes freaking out just at the upper edge of my screen (even when I'm out in an island), and I saw some weird artifacts the other night when looking at a Fleet Cloud. The weird freaking out stuff is the more common issue I face.

  • I’m on Series X and I’ve noticed so much screen tearing too, I hope we can get a fix on that

  • I've played this game on Series X since I got it on day one and I haven't noticed any screen tearing. It is very possible there is an issue with your monitor/tv connecting to your console. If you check the tv video settings on the console there may be a setting that can be enabled to fix it.

  • @burnbacon Here you go. Pretty obvious on this one ;)

If you don't see it, check the middle of the picture on the boat on the right. There is a cut. This line usually goes from bottom - up. The half top of the image doesn't match the bottom half hence this "cut".

Edit, so why is the picture showing in the preview and not the forum?

Knowing that I have this issue only with SoT, I am pretty sure it's SoT and not my TV setup.

Ah, we get this on PC. We usually have to enable vertical sync or VRR tech.

This happens when the gpu and display fall out of sync.

    This might help you https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/all/xbox-series-x-need-help-with-screen-tearing-issue/2ad7286e-f07f-4676-af07-0ddff51c815d?auth=1

Well, it's already activated and I still got the tearing, so def an issue with the game itself.

At this point I would file a support ticket and ask them about it.

  • @personalc0ffee OK I did open a ticket. It seems there might be hope.

    I got this reply.
"We just wanted to assure you that our test team is continuing to look into your report. In the event, we are able to diagnose the circumstances and uncover a problem we will look to address this in a future update."
