Looking for Group—Game Bar problems

  • If I try to create a post, it always fails and says "There was a problem posting your Looking for Group."

And if I try to join one, it always fails and says "This post is no longer available."

I would give up and assume this game is not integrated with Game Bar, if not for the fact there are hundreds or thousands of Sea of Thieves Looking for Group posts per minute.

Windows and Game Bar are up to date, and I've removed all my firewall rules just to be sure.

How can I get it to work? I'm out of ideas, there hundreds of posts on Microsoft forums about this problem with irrelevant answers from Microsoft employees, and users advising to use Discord instead. I know Discord exists, looking for a way to use Looking for Group in Game Bar, which is obviously working for hundreds of thousands of other SoT players.

  • Bump. Seen hundreds of topics with this problem (not this forum) and no solutions. Anyone had it and got it solved? Re-installed Windows 10 Pro, removed firewall rules, and cleanly installed Xbox app and Game Bar...

My temporary solution for joining now is messaging the poster, asking for an invite if he still needs people. But that's probably annoying to people and so reducing my chances (or is that how it works anyway if I could click "I'm interested?").

But I'd like to be able to invite Randoms to my game when I'm alone on a Brigantine or Galleon that I just stocked up (problem with starting from Tavern, is people just want to sail away ASAP without stocking up), because 30% of the time no one joins my open games, no matter how long I wait.

By the way, why do so many posters ask for Xbox players only? I can understand the other way around, but what's the advantage of having a crew of (mostly) controller users?
