Brig nerf

  • Brigantines are super annoying to deal with as a solo slooper. I was wondering why Brigantines have to be so fast even against the wind? they almost as agile as sloops and faster in all winds (against the wind they equal). Brigantines outperform Galleons and Sloops in so many ways its mindblowing to me that this never got changed.

  • Brigs are definitely not almost as agile as a well sailed sloop

No point in running if you aren't confident in your escape abilities

half sail circle around them take out masts with chain shot hit them pulling it up with blunderbombs to get some kills and slow down the process then get cannons in their bottoms and fire on their tops

do what you can to keep boarders off the sloop in between

a well coordinated and skilled crew is probably gonna win but oh well that's the name of the game

Solo sloop is rewarding and unforgiving. You'll die a lot and lose a lot of loot depending on who ends up on your server and who takes interest in what you are doing but you might as well improve your fighting abilities and take the chances. You might be surprised how many hostile ships you can actually take out by yourself.

You may wanna be peaceful and passive but like Rambo said

When you're pushed killin' is as easy as breathin'

  • @cpt-noise wrongfully assumed that:

they almost as agile as sloops

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sloops can sail circles around a brigantine.

Listen to @WolfManbush - he clearly knows more than you do.

  • @cpt-noisr sure brigs can go fast in a streight line, but the sloop can easily run circles around them as other have said. Also you ignore the real balancing aspect of the brig.....it sinks much faster than the other ships if the crew doesn't keep on top of damage.

  • Ship ballance is okay in general, the one area where I think the brig could do with a nerf is it's reaching (across wind) speed. I think the Galleon should be able to catch up to or at least maintain distance with sails at full bellow, to make up for their reduced manuverability. Still all ships are viable for combat when sailed intelligently with an eye to their various strengths and weaknesses.

  • If the brigantine didn't have speed on its side it would immediately become the worst ship in the game.

They sink faster so the fact they are faster balances it out.

If you don't like being caught by a brigantine then sail a brigantine.
    You won't get caught.

  • Brig is not faster than Sloop against the wind.

The fact you are unaware of that makes me believe this is more of a YOU issue, rather than a Brig issue.

Apart from that you also sail solo - this further worsens your situation if you're not experienced enough.

My advice: team up, play smart, know your drill.

Here's a very useful cheat sheet for ship speed:

  • @cpt-noisr they aren't equal against the wind if you put the sails right (stupid sails)...means you need to put the sails into default position, EXACTLY TO THAT POSITION...if it's just a little bit to the side you have the same speed as a brig with centered sails
