I just finished a 7 hour grind with a friend to get the shrouded ghost ship, and we are only at 60 teeth, why I’m saying is bad is we looked for a meg for nearly 3 hours!!!! Did Rare turn off the meg spawns, or is there something at play, me and my friend went around the whole map nearly two times, still no meg, we tried to force spawn it by completing Shores of Gold tall tale, when we left the shroud, still nothing. I’m not trying to complain, but come on, we where look for a meg for 3 long hours.

i also got 3 tonight, unfortunately they were the basic ones.
I'm not certain if it helped but our strat was to clear skeli ships and any other world event we saw that wouldn't take much time. in the hopes that it would free up a spawn for a meg.
We also allianced up with several other sloops who were also hunting megs and got in party chat in case someone got one.
hope your luck turns around.Me and my friend only got two meg’s the hungering one and shadow maw, I feel like there fixing something with the meg’s because there where 3 skelly galleys in one place but it wasn’t a fleet, maybe by accident the increased the skelly ship spawn rate and decreased meg’s, I don’t really know, I get back on tomorrow with a brig crew to see if they “fixed” it.
@hunglykabear I don’t think it matter if you clear world events or not. Me and my friend did three ashen lords in the seven hour time spawn, and every time we went to a outpost, the meg’s didn’t spawn, I have played this game for a long time, but I have never seen or hear of a gaming session with no meg’s, well, until now.

yea i wasnt sure if it mattered but it at least kept use occupied, gave us a destination to head to. like @Vin-Delanos said "Stop waiting for them to come, and they will come."But it might also be that on a typical night people would just skip the meg, so you see more of them, but tonight people are killing everyone they see.
My two cents - megs are pretty common in two spots:
- The Discovery Ridge - Sharkbait Cove - Plunder Outpost gap.
- The Kraken's Fall - Ancient Spire gap.
They'll show up anywhere, but I often see them in those two places.
Also, I lied, I only picked up two tonight - one 10 pointer and one 30 pointer. The former at #1, and the latter at #2.Galleon's Grave to Marauder's Arch is a good spot as well.

Yeah, I thought that, too - folks will be killing them more readily than usual.

I had 7-8 hour sessions without seeing a meg...as I said, totally rng based
@schwammlgott I disagree, every time I would have loot on my ship it would spawn, some times it didn’t, but most of the time it did. Me and my friend got 3 loot hulls and nothing, like I said before, I have never seen this happen before, and I started playing the game around the first mouth.

That's not true...it doesn't matter if you have loot on board...

@cotu42 shrouded is a one in a million spawn, I would consider it lucky if you have ever even seen it.

Heh - I regret all of the times that I went "Sigh, meg." and drove on without taking note of which meg had popped. It's possible I've encountered her and just wasn't paying attention at the time.
Come to think of it, meg would be better if, instead of announcing herself with music and a roar, her arrival was a swift attack to the hull out of nowhere. Meg would then start to get players' attention more.

Yeah, but people would complain the meg is op. The announcement lets you deal with them passively.Seems like the regular sharks are spawning more quickly than before, although still seeing that no damage glitch.
The loaded ship theory didn't help me last night. Sailed around like a Christmas goose with loot and an Emissary flag. Didn't get bothered until I sailed too close to someone using Alliance as bait and got caught lol. No meg action at all.
Trying again tonight, just gonna cruise around and stay away from rocks and islands
