Mermaid change using lanterns to spawn

    Due to how mermaids are so inconstant make it so mermaids spawn in when you pull your lantern out in the water so that way it will actually spawn and not make the loud annoying mermaid sound ruining you sneaking onto others.

    Spotting Mermaids has become such a big part of the meta that a change like this would alter gameplay quite a lot. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it would be a huge change, imo.

    @chadillac3006 Use a rowboat, and the mermaid won't spawn.

    The Merm is one of the only features indicating sneakers nearby.
    Even if that would be fairly new I would not want them to be changed back into only appearing via use of an item.

    Also you can stop them from appearing if you can hide your approach with a rowboat, yes.
    Naturally a rowboat is also kind of a giveaway but so are swimmingnoises.
    There are pros and cons everywhere.

    It is up to us how to deal with them.
