Why do I have to put up with people who don’t even play the game for the lore or the adventure but instead the decide to try and sink the first ship they sea. I just had a different crew ask me to join their alliance and as soon as I join, they decide to kill me and sink my ship. This happened when I was just about to sell Briggsys skull to Madame Olivia but I couldn’t because I ended up rage quitting because of that toxic crew. [mod edit]
Solo sessions
@lem0n-curry yes but what kind of player just kills and sinks another play as soon as they join their alliance. It’s completely toxic
@benh6803 A smart player. You decided to join an alliance and accept the risks, and they played you before you could play them.

You've been on the forums for a year, I am assuming you're playing for a year as well - and this is the first time another crew tries (and succeeded) to distract you by forming an alliance ?
It's a tactic used quite a lot, still not toxic.
@lem0n-curry Agreed. I have done it many times and it is worth it. I have made a pretty penny off of alliance crew's loot by stealing it from them.
@benh6803 Yes I do. You are salty that you sank to an alliance that you joined. If you aren't good at PvP, then learn.
@benh6803 toxic is when you are verbally belittled. That wasn't a toxic move. However, that move was a smart one as you permitted them to approach your ship. They outplayed you in a pirate game.
While I feel for you, and know your heartache, solo sessions would be bad for the game as a whole.
RARE should make Briggsy's skull and all other Tall Tale items part of your inventory wheel (unstealable). This would lessen the heartache a great deal and won't matter to others since the items have no value.

@supersnipper60 you both clearly don’t understand the point I’m trying to make. All I’m saying is that lots of players won’t be that good at pvp and will be happy if solo sessions were a thing.
Oh, I am not good at fighting other crews - I do however succeed sometimes in out-sailing them, or making other choices.
If I had been in your shoes, and after spending some time doing a Tall tale I had the choice of (a) turning in @ Madame Olivia or (b) joining an alliance to profit from the other crew - my choice would have been (a).
But to be honest I probably wouldn't have been in this situation as I would have been scanning the horizon, and would have done a detour and waited so another crew wouldn't be at Plunder Outpost when I was ready to turn in the skull and not fail the mission for getting greedy 😁.
(nothing wrong with being greedy, mind you, just as long as it won't hurt the ship)
@benh6803 You have to understand that you are playing a pirate game. Learn to accept losses and bounce back. I have had loot taken away many times. Salty pirates like you just complain on the forums because they don't know how to PvP, and they want the game changed to suit them. This is a shared-world game. There will be other players in the server. Accept that you sank, figure out why you sank, and then put your new knowledge to use.

I disagree with that. Some of the items i.e. Briggsy's skull, Gold Hoarder's skull, etc. have values in gold, so they could be considered worth something.

Too long, and a google search explaining the nuance of Dr. Seuss and words that rhyme with crew.I think some applause is due.
You were gullible and wrongly assumed that an alliance would be fair and friendly - unfortunately for you, upon the Sea Thieves, as long as you hold your tongue, anything goes.
Also, please not that Thieves is plural - as in more than 1. You are not alone upon the waves, and most will not be friendly.
@nabberwar I think you are a poet and you don't even know it.
@BenH6803 - This is why I do not join alliances. If you do not want the possibility of ending up with a peg leg in the back then I would recommend you not join them either. As far as why there is not single mode? Well it really is simple; this is not a single player game.
@benh6803 I understand your frustration. Let me start by saying if I realize a crew is doing a TT I will leave them alone or if I sink a crew doing one I will place the TT items on the island and message them to tell them where I left it. Also, I will not form an alliance and betray. I will attack you straight out as I don't believe in attacking through betrayal unless the other crew did something to cause me to turn on them. With this said, I would have ran Briggsy's skull to turn it in immediately and then dealt with forming an alliance. This way I would have lost nothing important. Also the game is meant to be played how you want to play it and immediately betraying an alliance is a viable option. If @SuperSnipper60 @Omnipotence13 the crew that betrayed you or any other player chooses to play like that it isn't toxic. It may be against the way you would do it and as I described is against the way I would do it myself but it's still something that can happen and if they, or anyone else, did that to me I couldn't be angry as they are playing their own way. That is what makes this game unique. I have had this happen and learned from it. I trust no one. If I am in an alliance with anyone I watch their actions constantly for signs of betrayal. I now prepare if a ship comes towards me with an alliance flag raised. If I choose to align I am also prepared to immediately fight them and don't let them very close. I hope you can get your TT finished and I hope that you learn from what happened as me and many others have before. I approach every seesion from the start knowing I may lose everything and if so learn from it and go again. Just always remember everyone chooses their own path and that treasure or item, no matter how frustrating, isn't yours until you hand it in.

Might be because its a pirate game called Sea of Thieves.
@travis354 sure, this game was released as a PVP game. That doesn't mean it can't be played PVE. In fact, I've seen this same discussion about lots of games, but this game more than any other would be a really good game PVE for people who just want to chill with their friends and do the adventures and explore the lore.
