Lower complete requirement for older tales to 3

  • Having to finish each tale 5 times isn't fun when only change is puzzles layouts. It's nice that Seabound Soul only requires 3. Having do it 4th and 5th would've been pointless. First should be blind playthrough, 2nd is speedrun(and extra challenge because changed slightly) and 3rd for aiming for that 100% on the story. And then don't have go back to tales and having to add more routes, Looking at you Old Faithful Isle. Just follow the rule of 3. It get repetitive afterwards and older players do really care if new players don't have follow same grind as you? I would gladly let new ones have simplier time with story. Would been cool if change took bit more heavier take like how game change up on Dark Souls 2 where have fight Freja early was unexpected, What if Briggsy fought you on skeleton galleon instead being on land all the time. Having do slightly different puzzles just ain't much of wow factor.

Why change it now, after all this time? Completing all of the Shores of Gold chapters 100% is no small task, but it's easily doable - many thousands of pirates already have, after all. It's not something you're meant to be able to complete in a few hours or even in a day at a medium pace. Besides, the later Tale chapters will have the 3 completions instead, so any player just starting out can choose them first if they wish (especially once the Tales are organized like the Bilge Rat Adventures).

  • Now that many pirates have completed the Shores of Gold tall tales 5 times each it would be a slap in the face to those players to reduce it.

I definitely agree with future tall tales being only 3 completions, but the initial tall tale series should remain at 5 for this reason.

  • I've done it 5 times each time, I think it's unfair to change now that not only me, but a lot of people have done it.

  • @ultmateragnarok problem is you cant do tall tales out of order soooooooooooo.

  • @fllw3rb0y

You can indeed. You can't do the chapters of a Tall Tale out of order, but you can do various Tales in whatever order you wish. Currently, we have the complete Shores of Gold storyline (9 chapters) and the start of another Tale, but we only have the first chapter, which is The Seabound Soul.

  • @gennousake I agree, im in the game to have fun and doing the exact same thing over and over again is not fun. It's lazy to design the tall tales having to do each 5 times to get full commendations. I would love the curse from the tall tales, but I'm afraid if i did each one 5 times, id end up resenting sea of thieves for how boring it was and never playing it again. They need to get more creative when making rare commendations. They aren't difficult, they are boring and time consuming. They dont reward good players, they reward "no-life"s. Give us a challenge, and not just a tedious string of repetition.

  • I'm indifferent and am fine either way. That said, I have yet to complete all the TTs 5x each.

  • I haven't even completed each one once, let alone five times each.
It's not time limited content, I'll get around to it eventually.

    But yeah, lower it anyways.
Give everyone that did them all five times a new curse.

You first run-through has to be in order, you unlock the next chapter by doing the chapters in order, but once you unlock all chapters? You can do them in any order you wish.

I wouldn't be opposed to this, seeing as i qualify to get said curse... But it would be unfair to those who missed their chance to do all TT's 5 times and read all books. Such as new players joining the game, we shouldn't punish those who haven't heard of the game yet, and cut the games content for them, just so the old pirates can feel special when these new pirates finally join us... That just destroys the amount of content in the game. : /

I like having exclusive items, but i also see how it's damaging to the future of the game... We already have enough exclusives, all of them combined could've been rewards in an awesome content update, but instead, new players will never get to experience those adventures for themselves, and will never get the rewards from them either. :(

So, what if we reduce the curtrent rewards to 3 runs of the TT's, and add another set of cosmetic rewards for doing the TT's 5 times? That way, the old pirates get to feel special, and the new pirates don't miss out. :)

Then again, this would probably result in the pirates who haven't done the TT's 5 times, to ask for those new 5-TT rewards to be given to them for 3-TT runs, yet again. xD

So maybe, in the end, maybe the best thing to do is to tell people who havent done the 5-TT's to suck it up and deal with it? That is the easiest solution for Rare, after all. xD

  • Lower it for all of them. Completing Tall Tales 5 times was always a terrible idea.

  • To be "that b×××××" I did it 5x. I should either get a cosmetic/ac/dubloon or gold bonus for 5x each one ( including 2 golden Shores completions during a kidney stone...) or NO.

  • It should not be lowered from X5.

And this is from a player that has not done them all X5. I doubt I ever will either. Tall Tales didn't interest me one bit, and I'll be glad to never see another again.

  • @sweltering-nick Actually, once you do the first 2, 3-6 are unlocked and can be done in any order. You have to do 7-9 in order. Of course, that’s only the first time through - after which you have access to all of them.

  • Even 3 times is too much and make people only speedrun them.
Boring and unneccessary to do that more than one time!!!

Why not make the maiden voyage a 3-5 time achievement?
Because it's ridiculous to do that sort of tutorial more than one time.
Why should i do the other Tales more often?
    Also immersionbreaking imho.

I dont mind that i've done it more often if they give it away for only doing it all one time.
If i compare the way i got PL A10 and how others can do this today i remind myself that the value of these achievements don't rely on any pride about grind, but the fun i had doing so.

Btw gimme my original (g)old curse back.

  • I agree that 5 times is excessive but to change it now would be unfair to those who have done it. I would suggest that moving forward with future TTs they lower the requirements.

  • Once you've done the tail once they are pretty easy to speed run. Only Briggsy and Grewmarrow take a lil prep time like gathering up a few Powder Kegs.

Oh yeah, true, well i don't have perfect memory. :]

    would it really matter?
I wont be upset if they get it by doing it all one time only.

^This right here is hardcore. Playing through a kidney stone... #bemorepirate

  • As someone that is currently running through them all to get the 5x done solely because lately I have seen other pirates that have higher overall points than I do when comparing (despite me having double or triple the miles sailed, items turned in, forts done, you name it). So I have embarked on getting the 5x done, because I have noticed that is one area where others make up a lot of points on me. Having said that, I would hate to see them change it now. Especially when I have 3 of them to 5x.
