What is the point of seaposts? Are there plans for seaposts in the future?

I didn’t notice the discount because I purchased all the cosmetics when they initially “temporarily discounted” all the items for the cursed sails event, only to keep the discounts in place permanently. So you’re saying that the seaposts offer an even greater discount than the already permanently discounted items?
Seaposts are a peculiar addition to the game and I still scratch my head over the decision to implement them.

I know where you are coming from on that one... a little.
However to me they fill in the Sea a little, something else to interact with, anything that is added is good in my books.Who knows, their role & use may develop further over time.
Yes seaports have a 10% discount on shop prices.
So u get 10% discount on the prices in shops (which are discounted)Yeah right now primarily for cargo runs which many do not do. Find crates left everywhere. Also offers a discount on three random items from the shops at the outposts.
I too would like to see them buy back things and resell those items for even a bigger discount. Like @Goedecke-Michel said would be fun if resold items were made to look worn. Would be nice if they had a lot more purpose. Maybe a fence to sell the items we steal.
Would like to see the bad music changed when we arrive at seaposts. Their real purpose will probably be MTX.

Main trading companies belong at bigger outposts for now, so never say never, and Seaposts will definitely grow and evolve but they're not fully fledged companies, just folks who packed up their rowboats with a few things and set sail
