Melee weapons. Seriously.

  • Let's keep this simple. Sea of Thieves NEEDS more melee weapons and I'm gonna list a few ideas i had.
    Boarding Axe
    alt text
    -Longer charge up, more damage
-with every swing there is a slight lunge leaving the user open
-not just a weapon: can damage sail lines causing sails to change direction until fixed

    Dagger
    alt text
    -super quick, small knock back
    -heavy attack=stun lock of Cutlass
-no slow down on missed hits/or minimal

    Hammer
    -hardly a weapon
    -super long charge up
-would work better if used well drunk on grog

    • Disregard this^
-massive damage if possibly used as a weapon
      -knocks user back on impacts
      -can cause holes on boat.

    Rapier
    alt text
    -faster then Cutlass
    -stabs not slice
    -less damage then Cutlass
    -4-5 hit combos
-still take little damage well blocking
-heavy attack is a over the shoulder slice that leaves user very exposed

Some other ideas i may expand on later:
    Javelin
    Saber
    Crossbow
    More

  • Also with the hammer you shouldn't be allowed to carry a secondary

I totally want more weapons, A boarding weapon would be nice for hull damage when you are waiting and stuck having to spawn kill to ensure the ship goes down.

  • @ve111a i agree, with the hammer it could potentially stop griefing in a grim sort of way as i said you should only be allowed to use the hammer and aside that griefing is commonly caused because players get on others boats and can't sink it so they just kill em over and over

  • Much of the reasons i post this is because yes it want more weapons but also is saw another very good forum on it and know that one forum wont get the word out so if you really want more weapons like me don't just comment make your own forums with your own ideas. Let's have hope

  • Ugh, weaklings. Steel cannot simply serve as well as the ultimate weapon.

  • @pugmie Lol i actually think this wouldn't be a bad idea

  • The rapier already exists within promotional art, I linked it in another thread so I'm pretty sure they're going to add it in at some point. The rapier should do 15 damage per stab, have a lesser charge time that does 50 damage but the rapier should also allow the ability to kick that does no damage but pushes the enemy back, Ardent38 posted the idea and I think it's a good idea for a mechanic. Personally I'd like to personally see each melee weapon come with its own unique mechanic.

  • Seriously, no we do not need any more.

  • @cupohemlock Dude i do a lot of combat in this game i love boarding i believe it is vital or else all hand to hand combat will be the same. and either way we all need to continue to push for MORE content or this game is gonna end up dead.

  • A rapier would make me so happy. I feel it resembles a more civilized form of fighting. I would really like it to be a bit harder to master then a Cutlass, and if done right can be better in ways.
