    You're right.

I wasn't trying to be a pain to Orpheus720, but there is always a difference between what we say consciously and what we feel unconsciously. The latter betrays our true feelings. Although people like Orpheus720 say they love the game, they do unconsciously recognize that there is something not right with what they are playing.

  • @mindofmadness69 Cool, heres a cookie.

Who gives a rats behind about whats popular, im stating my opinion to his rant.

I don't know where you get the impression that Rare are being "lazy and complacent", with regards to Sea of Thieves. They put out two videos explaining in great detail, what they were working on to stabilize and fix the game. They've followed that up with a couple of patches to fix a bunch of issues. They then put out a third blog post indicating that they were meeting about what to do next content-wise, and would release a video to tell the rest of us in around a week. The game has been out for less than three weeks. Where do you get "complacency" out of that chronology?

And calling any game developer "lazy", is just beyond insulting. Game developers work long hours, often for unremarkable pay, and extreme overtime hours are a virtual expectation in the months leading up to any new game release.

They have an entire suggestion forum, where you can outline your ideas for how to improve what they've built. But writing self-aggrandizing posts to let us all know you're leaving, and dramatize how disappointed and betrayed you feel?

    Bye.

Seriously Seriously! what games have you played in the last five years that took 4 years to make and released full of bugs and no real content? NO CONTENT apart from sailing a ship round in circles and collecting gold? Make your own stories, YOU CAN'T WITHOUT CONTENT. Complacent isn't the word I would use, more like scam with a game being released in this state.

Why then did you buy the game? You knew what to expect.

I watched a few video's and listened to the developers, my bad, I fell for the hype. So now I'll say how it is, until I get my monies worth.

Yes. Rule #1 in business: take the blame, don't throw it on the customer. Not only is it bad manners to throw the blame on the customer, you will never get better that way.

I’m super confused why you feel you know what I’m thinking? Never did I say this game did not have issues (no game does). I said exactly what I think, I’m having a great time playing and can’t wait to see what Rare can do with the core game. There’s no reading between the lines of what you think I “really feel”.

  • @junkysandburger

    AC

    GTA

    COD

    Any Bethesda Game

    MC

Most "BIG" games or otherwise nowadays consist of 2 or 3 main things stretched out to infinty to waste peoples times and have loot treadmills, crafting nonsense, etc.

And SOT is no different, it just lacks in Cosmetic and Quest types, and enemy types, etc.

Game defo aint perfect, needs much improvement. Its just these posts are pathetic lol.

U dont like a game, we get it.

Wonder what it'd be like if OP didnt like u as a person lol...........

I do not pretend to have walked in your shoes, so that is not what I am saying. However, you do call it a "core product" and wanting Rare to "add" more to it. What I am saying is: you do share something with those who are upset, even if you are enjoying the game.

  • @dalegrib94 So meaningless that you felt the need to defend your post when it was challenged...

Do you often argue over things you don't care about and find "meaningless"?

  • @inbred-chimera I'm in the same boat. I just came back after a week of being out of town, and the first thing I thought when I started playing again is, "what do I do now?" I'm ~20 in every faction and have completed 3 skull forts. I have nothing left to do. I have no interest in grinding the same quests I've done 10+ times already.

Hand-to-hand combat is just straight up bad. Little to no depth in gun combat, and sword combat, while better, is thrown aside due to the power of guns. Ship combat is frustrating mostly due to never being able to sink a ship. As long as there are 2 competent people on a ship it will never sink. It becomes more of a war of attrition; waiting for the other team to run of of materials first. It just isn't fun.

I'm not swearing off the game. When new content is added I will come back. I'm just worried that Rare botched the launch so bad, that when new content is added it's not going to matter. It's been almost a month and most of the big issues with the game haven't been addressed or really even talked about. I think that in another month that this game will have almost no one playing it anymore and that's sad.

Are you bullying people into staying?

  • Inbred ChemicalMistake has been a detractor for a long time. He does not get it. When everyone else who does not get it gets lost, the rest of us can continue to have fun.

Seriously... if you DO NOT like the game, just say so and get lost. The rest of us will play the game for what it is. At least we had the presence of mind to make a purchase based on the information at hand, and not plunk down $$ with the hope to change the game after the fact.

Seriously sick of the mindless complaints from the disenchanted morons who cannot think for themselves. I LOVE THIS GAME.

    @inbred-chimera

I found Black Flag to my liking and paid merely €9 for it. Jurassic World Evolution looks very interesting since Theme Park was published and CardLife is the next mantle bearer of Minecraft in the horison so looks like there is still hope in the frontlines.

What comes to SoT, there's still time for devs to change its direction. I just don't like waiting the series of miracles needed for it. Feels very odd to see all these other beautiful and brilliant products with revolving services around them thrive while the one thing you rooted for, one of the best ones, starts its journey by crawling. We don't need much else to question the development plan, but... At least the potential is clearly there. My estimate is that giving it another 2 maybe 3 years more time in development may yield more stable platform.

While one ship goes down, many others set sail from the harbour.

Except that alot of people including myself, wont wait a couple years for a product that was already sold and marketed as complete, thats the issue.

I'm sure the devs have taken notes from the feedback given when it comes to lacking, incomplete and unpolished products. However, it doesn't make the game any more whole than it already is so we can leave that aside now. The game sadly doesn't evolve based on our pace of feedback so meanwhile the game is developed further, it would be better to go out and do something more important, whatever that may be.

The good news is that the game isn't going anywhere and it won't go down anytime soon unless Microsoft wants to shame the 'games as service' practise in its current tracks by pulling the plug from a server access to a hype-drained software that a lot of customers bought with the ridiculous $60 price tag. That would be an equivalent or worse scandal than EA doing the micro-gambling approach, intentional or not.

Go do what you do best and return here later. Hopefully we get a better deal then than we got now.

That's not how I read that. They didn't ask to silence or limit another person's speech. They were simply asking people to say their thing and move on with life rather than endlessly post the same things in every thread in which they can get away with it. I tried having a civil conversation with Inbred once. They got offended that I would dare have an alternate point of view and screamed about it for three days, accusing me of all kinds of nonsense. I simply ignored them after that.

  • @junkysandburger Not at all. State your opinion, then get out. Those who failed to research the game before spending their money have NO right to bi*ch about it now. You are NOT entitled to what you wanted, only what was offered.

Now you want to have a productive dialog? Ok. What bothers me is the smug sense of entitlement that some of you seem to have. I knew what I was getting when I paid for the game. I got what I expected. If you do not like it, then just go play one of thousands of games that give you what you want. Don't post that you are unhappy and leaving, just go. If you are truly unhappy then you failed to pay ANY attention to how the game was advertised.

It really must just chap some of you that there are significant numbers out there who really dig the game for what it IS and not what some imagined it to be.

  • For the record I don't appreciate that people who publicly share that they are leaving and list reasons for their dissatisfaction are being shamed. These are cult-like tactics that should not be a part of the gaming community.
