Schooner ship

  • The crews for the galleon are to small. I think that the galleon should have a crew of 5-6 instead of just the 3-4 it has now. Instead a new ship for a 3-4 crew could be made. It would be a schooner and have two masts. Either mast could have a crows nest.

    • top deck
The top deck would have 2 cannons on each side. Steps to the bottom deck would be in between the two masts. At the back of the deck would be the p**p deck with the captains quarters under it. The configuration of the cabin would be much the same as the galleons cabin, but in a smaller scale and without a bed.

    • anchor
The anchor drop and raise times would be somewhere in between the galleon’s and the sloop’s ( I’m not sure of the exact times). The anchor could be placed on the p**p deck much the same as the sloop or somewhere else on the top deck.

    • bottom deck
The bottom deck’s configuration would be close to the middle deck on the galleon and again on a smaller scale than the galleon.

This would be a nice ship for a small group of friends that want a fast and reliable ship.

  • I think that this would be cool. but It wont happen until after launch, but still a good idea.

  • @blc-joecool36 Thanks. (:

  • Im quite happy with this idea. It would make sense, but I think its a little too close to what a scloop is. Dunno.

  • @jimbodeani From what I've heard from the tech. alpha players who played with 5-6 man crews they said that the ship battles would last forever and basically went on until one ran out of resources!

  • @sir-kringle This already happened almost every battle on 4 man galleons in the fights I was in so what's the difference?

  • @sir-kringle I think the issue with this is that they aren't engaging into melee. If you board the ship drop the anchor bring your boat up close and have 2 guys on the enemies ship battling on their deck then you can sink the enemy ship quick.

  • Players who play alone should start with a dinghy ⛵️

  • @demonicthing @Sir-Kringle is on the mark. The galleon is made for 4 players, the moment an extra player is onboard all encounters get easier because youre never short handed, let alone when you add an extra 2 or more. Even just a 5th person means someone can repair whilst 3 shoot and one steers or even one can constantly attempt to board the enemy at no risk to the ship. The fights get long and drawn out to the point its a battle of attrition when fighting equally skilled crew and it gets dull for everyone because thats not epic.

Anyone that says the galleon is hard to control with 4 people or theres needs to be more are not realising thats the point, everyone is supposed to have a job and there needs to be priorities like does everyone shoot for max damage? do you split everyone into roles to keep everything covered? etc etc whatever you pick, something else will suffer because of it whereas it doesnt when you increase the numbers.

Larger crew would require a larger ship or a ship that requires more from the numbers onboard. E.g 6 player crew would need something like all shots taken equal twice as much damage resulting in needing two people to do repairs for instance. You only sink ships when the enemy is failing to do something be it watch ladders, patch holes, etc - the moment every option is covered it turns into a battle of resources.

  • i think the galleon is fun with 4 people and if you coordinate it's enough. And it keeps things hectic and fun. Everyone has something to do. But i do agree with a 2 sail ship with 2-3 people in it.

  • @aprovoked-mango I agree with this now that I think about it. The challenge is fun. I still would like to see a ship like a schooner for 2-3 people instead of the 3-4 Schooner I presented. I think it would be a great add on in the game.

  • @joda1123 I definitely agree with this after thinking about what you and others have said. It does just make sense for a crew of four to operate a galleon.

  • @Jimbodeani
    this will never happen

  • @jimbodeani Oh im all for other ships, I want other styles too. I can see there being room for an inbetween ship but definitely wont happen before launch

  • I'd settle for a solid 4 on the galleon. Seems there's always one person who has no interest in working sails.

  • I want a 1 man pinnace!

  • @shisatsu what if everyone started with a dinghy be had to earn the right to sail a big ship?

  • I would l0ove to see something like that ingame and i hope RARE is gonna make something like that

  • @jimbodeani I think the crew size is right for the galleon. It forces you to divy up who is shooting, who is driving, who is repairing, who is getting buckets, who is changing sails, who is on lookout, at all the right paces imo.

I'd love to see an 8 person man-o-war. Not sure how you could possibly balance it, though.

  • isnt the whole point that there is more jobs than crew? im sure i heard a dev say this. plus game balance is already scewed without adding bigger crews.

  • Something like this? What do you all think?

  • Maybe the Galleon is great. We have not seen the specialty Legendary Ship yet. We also know that there is a rank system of sorts with the legendary pirates turning into those high ranked people. Maybe one of those ships will be a 5-6 person crew.
