Sea of Thieves Arrives at E3 2017

We've dropped anchor at E3 with another suite of Sea of Thieves treats!

After another wild few weeks of E3 planning we're here again, bringing our very latest version of the Sea of Thieves to the biggest gaming expo in the world! We have a release window (early 2018 in case you missed it), we have a bumper-sized trailer, we have plans for live show floor streaming – and yes, of course we have legendary pirate band The Skullduggers back to entertain the crowds.

A lot of deliberation went into this year's trailer: last year we had separate Gameplay and Cinematic Trailers, so which approach should we take this time? We soon realised that as we keep adding new features to Sea of Thieves and polishing up the fun of the minute-to-minute gameplay, we should continue to be as open as possible about the hands-on game experience, and focus everything on a section of gameplay from Sea of Thieves' most recent build.

So, as shown at this year's Xbox E3 briefing, we proudly present our E3 2017 Gameplay Walkthrough, captured and edited right here at Rare. We don't want to spoil any of the new and improved features on show, but we can tell you that sharks, shipwrecks, swashbuckling in storms and the lost art of human cannonballing all play a part in this adventure.

That's not all we have for you this year: we'll also be streaming from our E3 booth in several midweek sessions, using Mixer (formerly Beam) to co-stream four crew members at once! We're even planning simultaneous play sessions for everyone in the Xbox One Technical Alpha – so players at E3 can cross cutlasses and exchange cannon fire with other players from across the world. At the moment we have daily sessions lined up for Tuesday 13th to Thursday 15th June, with times to be confirmed. Check the Sea of Thieves social channels for all the latest news on this and anything else E3-related. There's also a Sunday stream after the Xbox E3 briefing to kick things off, which might be live right now on our Mixer page if you're quick enough!

We hope you enjoy E3 and everything we've brought along this year. If you haven't already, make sure you're signed up as an Insider to get all the perks of the Programme. This is also the only way to be considered for a place in the Technical Alpha play sessions between now and the game's launch early next year. But don't worry, we're not going silent until then. You can keep up with the very latest Sea of Thieves  developments on any of the channels below!
