  • Uh oh, just watched the Developer Update video.. not looking like May 10th will be the winner..

  • @cpt-peach-beard

I predict, two new clothing sets, two new ship sets, and a new variety on the sea life

  • It's going to be may 15-17 for sure.

  • @gunah0lic I've seen green sprites/outlines/whisps on occasion when sailing by islands, usually within that undefined distance between rendering the island's smaller details, and the waxy, less detailed rendering distance - I believe this happens when there are "resident skeletons" on the island (ie: spawning when you pass by).

I've also experienced (solo and crewed) music from an OoS voyage (someone's unfinished/abandoned wave or possibly one of your own).

But yes, I've definitely seen what you have described - green sprites/whisps have also occurred while completing some higher level (30+) OoS captains. It doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes if you defeat a captain before all of the henchmen, the henchmen go "p**f".

Personally, I don't think it's related to Hungering Deep, but good to see there is a shared observation.

-- as far as the release of Hungering Deep goes, with the video update and Joe addressing the balancing & mechanic changes, they ARE releasing an update on Tuesday (15th), he did mention the HD trailer as well he shared that he has played Hungering Deep hands-on -- I believe they'll deliver the patch on tuesday (15th) as promised, along with the trailer with a friday (18th) release of HD right before the weekend (long one for us in Canada with Victoria Day on Monday).

All of this said, trying to take into consideration the shorter lead-time for the Hungering Deep team to complete their work/testing/bug fixing - as well as the time that it takes to submit a build through Microsoft's distribution system... I feel like the build is submitted and moving through distribution as we speak.

Remaining patient and thankful for Rare's approach - I have a lot of respect for Joe and the team and I know from experience in early alpha/pioneer - they will not push a build or major addition out in haste.

  • Lol, I love the optimism from here.

If they're putting out a trailer this coming week that announces the date, it probably means it'll be the 22nd or 29th.

22nd would put it at the same day that State of Decay 2 launches officially (ignoring the Deluxe Edition headstart on the 18th) which gives incentive to keep Xbox Game Passes alive for another month (assuming people bought into it on the 20th of March or earlier for SoT). So from a marketing perspective for Micro$oft that would be an ideal day for the patch. Otherwise will probably be the 29th if they want to push it back as far as they can while keeping to the Tuesday releases.

  • Though my heart truly expects it to drop July 32nd at 25:00 hours...

I'll be generous and apply some calm logic here.. This next update is expected to be a mere patch with some curious additions. This same period should include the teaser for the patch of the hungering deep.

Generously that places the drop on the 22-23... which is where my money will go (I wasn't far off in this case... I always presumed it'd be late in the month)

I'll offer due to cynicism 29-30 May is likelier than before, since even this last patch was delayed.

  • @rp-slayer-2 said in Hungering Deep betting pool.:

    May 29th

    Nailed it.
