Has this ever happened to you?

In the middle of the dive, other players (multiple accounts) are phasing on and off my sloop. At one point, two people show up on the boat.. I can see their names in the recent player list, so not just a glitch imho.

This is a regular bug, you are seeing other people diving on your server

Sounds like your opponent just hit a few shots and you instantly called cheats, everyone has lucky shots sometimes. Even a cannon aimbot could not have tracked you like that because of travel time

Your 3 cannons couldve hit the anchor, wheel, mast, or the harpoon and it would've given zero holes, also they could've been repped

nothing like this on the previous 20+ dives; get to champion and then it starts? I mean… come on…

Yeah, could have hit the mast, anchor; but no damage anywhere visible on the ship… thank you for your comments , but I’m calling out this bs… I’m happy to lose a fair fight and gladly will give up the flag for this; this was beyond…

@tigger5891 You seem to be too confident that they were cheating so nothing could change your mind. Fyi there are currently no repair cheats (except shipwright repair if they are next to an outpost), so you are onto nothing

@tigger5891 your spread was not optimal then, i think this is a skill issue you need to work on. Practice hitting different parts so it's harder for them to manage repairs.

I’m confused what is the issue here.

Reaching streak 5 is impressive in itself as a solo, most normal players don’t get past 2 before losing unless the wins were given

Fighting someone who also has streaks because you chose too and find out they happen to have better aim, and you were surprised to find 0 holes by the time you shot over and boarded….enough time to fix.
But as some pointed. Your hits could been nothing more than anchor, mast, wheel shots and no haul.

Now you’re raging because you lost with 0 evidence of cheating but assuming it was because. 0 holes on a ship which can be your poor shots. Nothing to do there.

Definitely, it’s a skill issue. I should just get better at dodging cannonballs that follow me. And better at better at spreading my shots. That 4 wins streak was skillless luck.

Some general advice:
The title of this post is a general inquiry on whether others have had similar issues/experiences. If it hasn’t, read and move along. Like you coming to the defence of what exactly? Or just trolling that it’s “another complainer”?? [mod removed]

Love how everyone jumps to attacking the poster and defending… not sure exactly… I’m sure I’m not the only one out there this has happened to, but these comments go a long way to suppressing others, so congratulations!

I need to start recording dives and fights for the rare (although seemingly becoming more frequent) time these things are happening… that’s really the only constructive thing this thread is telling me.

Well, either the player I matched with is a god (… I looked them up: not a streamer, very little in their profile, 11% trophy completion) or they somehow managed to merge from a PC/non-controller base…

So the way it works is normally you select to prefer controller players, but it’s a preference and not a guarantee and can be put on PC servers if there’s not a match quick enough. The fact you started seeing the ghost people makes me think this is what happened. That’s a super common bug. BUT, PS5 has its own option that my Xbox doesn’t where you can select something to make it PS5 only and not just controller only, but idk if it is a preference or a lock. I thought it was a lock, but to me it sounds like you got put on PC servers?

As far as if the person was a cheater, could have been, but there’s lots of people who are super good at hourglass who aren’t streamers or content creators. The low stats makes it suspicious but I was watching a small streamer the other night who ran into a crew and it turned out to be a PvP streamer who was on an alt and just not streaming at that time. They came into chat after the match to out themselves. So it could be either IMO.

Yeah, I thought the ps5 thing was a lock too.. but maybe that’s removed during dives? Or maybe once you hit champion? (Bigger selection pool, champ vs champ, etc). Not sure and there doesn’t seem to be an explanation online.

I’ll get up, brush off, move on and am determined to do it again… I will be watching and recording specifically for this…

@tigger5891 I do know matchmaking really moves quickly to try and get you a match by expanding the pool faster than I think is necessary. I personally play other competitive games and even in the unranked mode my queue times will be up to 10 minutes depending what role I am playing and the time of day. I’ve always felt SoT moves too quickly to expand the search pool because after only 1 minute of searching it starts to expand the requirements. If you’ve been in the tunnel for 3 minutes it feels like it just gives up and gives you anything available lol but apparently people who play SoT would rather play a match than wait for a quality one?? At least that’s what the devs think? I personally would rather wait but I’m used to waiting.

Recording is a good idea, it’ll help you have a playback to review if something feels suspicious. It would be cool if the game had recordings where you can see from the other player’s perspective. Like in other games I have been like “how did they hit that shot?!?!” and then I watch the replay from their POV and am like “oooooh.” But SoT can’t afford to record everyone.

It’s not competition at all.
Using this, high school vs Lakers can also come down to creative gameplay
Maybe the high school team stays playing like Harlem Globetrotters? Or they pull Space Jam and bring in someone who ain’t high schooler but a pro to help?

Bottom line. It all fair game between everyone as long you use what the game offers and you can pull wins not just using what everyone calls meta.

Day SoT starts offering competitive play will be a horrible day. And copy cat of all other games
