The post title is self explanatory I think, but I will propose an argument and solution that I think fits. PvP battles take a very long time in this game, and it is only because that no matter what you do, as long as their mast is up or anchor is down, they can always simply run away, extending the battle. This is ultimately not the problem. The problem lies with the ability to constantly run from every fight after more than 3 cannonballs collide, which every single crew does. And at first, it is expected, but the problem is that this happens over, and over again, which just makes me want to quit. I played for 2 hours with my friends today and we fought and sunk a total of 3 enemy ships. The problem isn't about skill, or matchmaking time, or anything. The problem is that unless you have chain shots, you simply can't sink them. I propose to gradually shrink the zone of the fight over time (like the storm from Fortnite) so that the ships are forced to interact, rather than them just hiding on the other side of the map extending the battle. I think that this will make the grind more feasible, as you will still need 150-200 wins to actually get either curse. It's just ridiculous how long it takes and I'm probably not going to do any PvP until a double XP day, because even my wins feel useless after fighting a single ship for 45 minutes. The mode feels really unhealthy right now because it takes obscenely long due to literally everyone running away as soon as they're within cannon range. I think that the zone should shrink by around 10% every 3 minutes or so, this way fights will only last half an hour at the most, which, if the area is that short, they probably won't make it to anyways. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing the same problem, I'm currently at 77 in Servants of the Flame and probably will be for a while with how long these fights have been taking.
Shorten Hourglass Fights
Ya, to me the HG should really be on a separate servers, to prevent 3rd partying/alliance, should come in with a set amount of resources, and the circle should slowly shrink in meaning the match will actually end in under an hour.
Done a few matches and refuse to bring my friends into this stupid grind due to how bad the experience is. At the point that I will try to do 1 board at the first pass and if I fail I just let my ship sail out of bounds. More fun to forfeit then actually play the hour it takes to complete one single match.

You referring to the hourglass battles, as nobody has a problem with PvP outside hourglass and chasing players for hours.

Point exactly while.
- Plan ahead (find curse balls before hand)
- Learn to out play players.
- Defend more than invade.

Not bad, I played 2 hours and only saw 1 ship.

I sank someone by forcing them into crashing into rocks and kegs. But that because I made sure they invaded me near small islands and a rowboat. hehehe

What happens is both ships end up out of bounds in some way? both ships explode...who won? Draw? how much exp do you get?
It's just ridiculous how long it takes
Hehehe..I just had a thought. The mode feels really unhealthy right now because it takes obscenely long due to literally everyone running away
Not everyone. It not a huge issue as you make it seem. Even after community day, I still find nice players who have both curses, lvl 150 and let me win. Even those with grade 5 flags :o
I think that the zone should shrink by around 10% every 3 minutes
So if there was an island or fort in the circle, that gonna make sailing more troublesome and not fun.

Clearly you have a higher lvl than most, Im only 30 on both factions. So I dont see why your upset.
and another.

doubt you complain if the "3rd party" came in and helped you out and not the other ship.
I think over time of the circle shrank it would help shorten the length of battle. I also think that ships who enter the circle who are not part of the battle should get damaged like you do when you leave the circle since a lot of people are fighting with Allie’s.
One suggestion I like is to have a point system like arena, have a 15 minute timer and whoever has the least amount of points when the time runs out explodes and sinks.
