Mindset towards Sea of Thieves needs attention 🙏🏻🫡

  • As a year 2️⃣ player of Sea of Thieves, this game is in a state where it is impossible to bring people together to have fun and make journeys with others & custom seas would’ve been the greatest option, but with the current atmosphere of the game being as it is, it’s only a PVP tool & should be taken out.
In fact, this game is more PVP focused and lazy grinding and the LFG’s I see are just meh with people looking for top-tier sweats for hg & eah & doing crazy gold stacking for no reason but to have so much money saved up for nothing.
Every time I put up an LFG for a role-play & etc to bring in players to give them an experience of adventure like they can have on the main game, which is hard to do, zero people are interested in the post Will be up for two hour with no interest.
But if I switch it to say custom 10 V 10, about 30 to 40 players would be interested.
THE SIGNS ARE CLEAR that this game is more PVP focused more than ever, don’t get me wrong, I love combat & finding other pirates 🏴‍☠️, but when it comes to trying to make something with a mix of PVP and adventure, there’s zero interest in it & I pity the people who grind for the golden bones and golden ghost curses because that shows me that they completely fried their brain on constant fighting & etc trying to Dismantle at this point people’s mindset about the game from “it’s A great game for Adventures” to “It’s nothing but a PVP game where I got killed 9 times by a camper & greifer” mindset.
It is hard to bring people together to craft experiences for newer and returning players on custom seas.
Something’s gotta be done fix the view that this game is getting from everyone, despite what’s happened at Rare HQ recently.
I hope y’all are actually listening & as a veteran player, I hope y’all can bring balance back to the seas.
    🫡🏴‍☠️
    Good luck to Y’all.
    Regards,
    Captain Mace the “Adventurer”.

What you're saying is completely wrong!
Also, in response to the author of the post:

    • Rare doesn't listen to players, insisting that RP is natural in this game. Just so you know, I've been playing for 6 years now, with over 10,000 hours of gameplay—and RP in SoT? I've seen it twice (and I'm not kidding).
When Rare dared to release the pirate packs (to introduce a new PAID profile, NO LESS), the reason they gave was: RP!
So it’s simple: Rare doesn’t listen to the players. WORSE YET: Rare doesn’t even know its players!
Oh wait, sorry—they only know the content creators, LOL! I’m sure that’s going to help…
The CSs are a disgrace all on their own... Especially when you consider that it’s the only feature of Season 20...
This game disgusts me more and more every day... Thank goodness I hardly play it anymore... Rare doesn’t even deserve my time...
  • Idk
People avoid PvP like it’s a sin and just wanna do pve

While us casual players doing pvpve and rping. The ones who rp are ones you run from when they approach and ones who use a mic are ones you mute. All because of a small bad experience with pvp

Mindset isn’t games job. It players and they get so focused on the bad parts of the game they can’t enjoy the rest.
You make the game what you wish it, adapt as things roll and play on.

Then we have the actual players who never complain, don’t visit the forums or discord. They login and play what ever runs there way. And I love theses players is

  • Right now my biggest beef with the game is it has turned into a machine where everything is predictable, i miss not knowing what loot i was going to get, whether it was digging something up or sinking a ship parked at an island im going to, it takes a glance to know what some one has, or what your going to get.

There is little magic and wonder to the game at this point, its just a high energy colorfully painted pirate game, but the fact that i know almost exactly what im in for every time and see very few moments of "well thats crazy!" whether its from pve or pvp any more. Trying to streamline their systems, loot types and gains, and over all voyaging in any aspect, they streamlined a lot of the wonder and fun out of the game for me and its been more just a wait and see if they either fix bugs, or fix questing again before i can bother hopping on solo slooping again.

Having a stack of only 2 types of chests from x mark maps regardless of the voyage level, and either exactly 2 marks, or exactly 3 marks every time, doesnt make for a very good adventure when you thrived on maps full to the brim with marks and taking the haul into a fight for years of this games life, and the fact that just a simple "streamline/optimization" update completely killed my play style has had me on the sidelines hoping literally anything replaces streamlined quests at this point.

Not sure why they had to change seasons to manual claim either now, if i recall it used to just auto claim when you hit the mark, that isnt a convenience feature or even nice when you have to manually do something that used to be automatic as long as you recall. But new features are hardly in my concerns lately.

I miss playing sea of thieves, but until i see some bugs smashed or a little more chance in my quests again, i just find it so hard to press play.

  • @goldsmen it's for dopamine reaction from unlocking, claiming stuff right from mobile games.

I never touch mobile games because they just use so much useless junk that gets in the way of doing anything, if thats what they are starting to copy, and it keeps going that way, i wont touch the game again. The last thing we need in a triple a title thats struggling currently is for them to copy the single worst game format that has ever been created, and i will full on join the nay sayers who claim the game is dead, because at that point it wont be sea of thieves any more, it will just be code with the title of what was once a fun game.

If mobile games are the format they choose to go for, i will not regret dropping the game from my radar as anything to consider playing, i may be the odd one out but i blatantly stop playing games if they start pulling gross practices to try to entice people in, and removing a simple convenience to try to force a cheep dopamine rush is a disgusting practice if thats the actual design intent.

Yup. They removed it for the people who didn't like wasting time. So you always know what you're getting into before dropping a voyage.

Too bad rare thought we shouldnt have a choice between their "new quick easy streamlined voyages" and any voyages that actually felt like going out on a real adventure because you got 2 maps with 10 x marks and an island with 3 riddles all at once! Choices and unpredictability is a good thing, when something goes against your expectations in a direction you like, that is a lot more fun than digging up another silver reskinned chest that you have 50 of and no more surprise or emotional joy about digging up your 51'st of the same chest on the same sized island.

They turned the most simple aspect of a pirate fantasy, the finding of glittering hoards of treasure, into essentially a 9-5 copy paste office job. Do the same thing the same way to get the same reward over and over and over again until there is no drive or appeal to motivate you to bother with the dead end mundaneness. A game requires rules and has variance, a system repeats the same results.
