I propose you should be able to charter a rowboat at outposts maybe like 3-5k for a rowboat/harpoon/cannon, whatever colour you want, priced accordingly. You can already buy storage crates etc. why not rowboats. This would surely be an improvement in every way and would open up new possibilities, if they spawned next to the capsize charters tent then you could just scuttle your ship and set out to sea on your chartered rowboat instead! Also I feel having an extra cannon is a slight advantage so it would be more balanced if everyone could have one, right?
Capsize charters charter rowboats!
Let us buy them from outpost or remove them from hourglass that's what I'm saying, this game is supposed to put everyone on a level playing field letting someone have an extra cannon because they've sailed around a few islands before entering hg isn't balanced, if anything it just makes better players who can hold onto their extra cannon longer even harder to take down
@burnbacon I'd argue a storage crate is just as deadly and it's probably easier to sneak onto your enemy's ship with a storage crate and take their supplies rendering them defenceless than it is to attack anyone or escape on a rowboat considering how slow and easy to destroy they are, and people can just detatch them and stuff they're pretty useless they don't last long and I think maybe 7k for a starndard colour cannon rowboat with 40 cannonballs in the chest, maybe like 100k for a golden rowboat if you think you can hang onto it a bit longer that could be loads of fun, everyone would want to steal your golden rowboat

@burnbacon Ah yes, like you've sunk a ship with a rowboat before. Rowboats are nearly useless.
Define “sunk a ship”. I’ve sunk ships with cannon rowboats a few times, this wasn’t a cannon rowboat vs ship cannon battle; rather, a few holes from the rowboat and assist the impacted ship along its way.
Excluding cannon rowboats, my crew and I have rowed many long trips to a ship sitting at an event and those trips more often than not lead to a sunk ship.
Rowboats are end-game. Not even close to useless.
@thunderdrago205 I have used them in duo sloop hg and won a couple where we have pummeled them with 2 cannons also lost a few despite pummeling the enemy with 2 cannons so I know it's hardly game breaking but a good duo sloop team could probably use them better than me, I think the rowboat cannon on the sloop also has a slightly forward angle better when chasing ships down or trying to flank them, extending the horizontal range of your cannons but I haven't really tested this 100% I think I'm right
@pc-monkfish I spent the time making the gold to buy the rowboat how is that any different to going out and finding a rowboat? This was the case with storage crates but now you can buy them and I feel that is a massive improvement to the game just like having a cannon rowboat in every duo hg battle would be (if you wanted one).. I wish they would respawn facing left on the sloop though when you leave game and spawn in again
@pc-monkfish gold is so useless as well all I use it for is storage crates and cannonballs they need to add more fun stuff you can buy with it when you spawn in like a 100k golden cannon rowboat from capsize charters
@burnbacon Cannonballs are also deadly if used effectively, and people can buy those too. You don't have a real argument. If anyone can have them they need to be on a level playing field, and will if people can all buy them.
@thunderdrago205 I have had HG matches that have been turned by a rowboat and I am not kidding. I can remember at least 3 times using a rowboat that was on the back of my opponents ship to open more holes in it while they were anchored and on the ferry, and that guaranteeing me the win.
@potatosord thank you I think you see my main point, it's almost like a semi-permenant ship upgrade because you can repair them, they aren't one time use, you can dive into hg with them and even take them to a new server and it goes against the core values of the game where there shouldn't be progression and everyone should spawn in equal, I think this should be true to ships as well and rowboats should be treat like the weapons that they are.

I don’t complain when someone uses a cannon rowboat in hg, just like I don’t complain about curse balls, bone callers, a thousand chainshots, a keg, or anything at all that’s possible within the game. With that said, if I encountered wraith balls, bone callers, and cannon rowboats every match it would be extremely annoying. I don’t think that everyone having a cannon rowboat in hg is a great selling point…
I also think it would take away from the game a bit, as discovering rowboats of various colors and functionality feeds the exploration and discovery vibe.
@capt-greldik I'm not really complaining about anyone using them if you have one I think you should use it, I just think everyone should have one, I sailed all day yesterday didn't see 1 cannon rowboat, I've found all the rowboat colours etc. and I do agree that there should still be a reason to go find them like maybe you can't buy that colour until you've collected it and of course when you spawn after sinking away from an outpost you wont have one. However it's not a one time use item like other consumables you're mentioning its more like a semi-permenant ship upgrade, it's an extra cannon on your ship, with an extra cannon you can fire all your extra curse balls and chainshot twice as fast I think that's a big advantage if used correctly

I wasn’t saying that you were complaining about them. My point was that you were using “everyone can have a cannon rowboat during hg” as a selling point, and to me that sounds awful. The logic being if one player has an advantage, everyone should have an advantage. Well why stop there? Allow us to buy wraith balls and bone callers while we’re at it. Toss in chainshots as well.
I’m good with people cheesing cannon rowboats sometimes, but seeing them every match sounds gross.
@capt-greldik well maybe they should just remove them from hg entirely, I wouldn't be against them selling wraithballs etc. it makes sense that everyone should be equal diving into the hg, it's not just about hg though it's just like 2 sloops spawn fresh in near eachother and one has an extra cannon, how is that not an upgrade or progression? They are at an advantage because they have spent longer isle hopping in their previous session
Surely you see the difference between sometimes encountering wraith balls, versus everyone in the game having them at all times, right?
HG was never meant to be equal, that doesn’t mean we need to give everyone every cheese imaginable at all times.
@capt-greldik it's different, when you leave your game and come on the next day your wraithballs are all gone cannon rowboat is still there
@capt-greldik I know that's why I said they're semi-permanent because they potentially won't last long, that's one more reason why they should be more accessible, they could last forever if you keep repairing it though so it's hardly a one time use wraithball

Rowboats almost never survive a PvP session, especially an hg PvP session. One loss and your rowboat is gone. I’m guessing by your crusade to make them purchasable, you too frequently lose your cannon rowboat.
@capt-greldik I do indeed and then i have to spend about 5 hours of rng looking for a new one otherwise I'll feel like I have one less cannon than the other sloops out there in a game where everyone is supposed to be on level playing field when they set sail

I play HG a lot, every week, mostly duo sloop where this cheese occurs the most frequently. I hardly ever encounter a crew rowboat cheesing. You absolutely do not need to find a rowboat to be on a level playing field. You just want one to have an advantage ;)
@capt-greldik I just really like playing solo sloop and when I get a cannon rowboat I can pretty much be my solo sloop self and have a guy down below with his own little cannon and we never have to see eachother
