@wydyadoit Well, to be fair:
A) it doesn't happen often, and
B) the loot's not yours until you turn it in.
to be fair. there's a better way to achieve the goal of new players in the lobby without forcing an instance change.

There was a time when we were merged every nearby loot outside our ship would vanish.
But they changed that some while ago.
There is a radius where loot is safe from disappear when merging. Because it was a pain in @$$ back then, everytime we completed a raid or boss we merged.
If you're facing this again it must be some issue you should report. Maybe related with the location you were.
it's because my ship sank and I was on the other side of the island grabbing the floating treasure instead of going straight for the stuff on the rowboat by the shore. The rowboat wasn't about to sink so I was certain it would be safe. I didn't want the floating treasure to despawn so I went for it first at the back of the island. Apparently the back of the fort doesn't count as part of the fort's island chunk. Thereby destroying all the resources I'd scavenged. I'll post the video once I edit it.
