So I would like to start by saying I like and understand the concept of the character randomizer you get some interesting builds and sometimes something unique pops up but I can't get out of character creation I keep picking a pirate getting in game and realising how much I dont like them deleting and trying again also I see most player's running the same look making most pirates feeling in inspired and lackluster! I would really appreciate a creator you could even keep the randomized build but please let us edit and personalise them being that we only get to buy cosmetics we should at least be able to make are pirates are own allowing a better connection to them I believe we would see far more diversity across the seas and players would be more drivin to style out there unique pirate because there not going to see someone just like them.
Character Creation
@dankvoodoo THIS!!! we'd all win if they made a way to customize you characters, with the ability to just press "random" and get a neat pirate, that has a unique touch to it :)
Odd, I've never seen a single pirate in the game who looks like mine or anyone else that I crew with on occasion. Most pirates I encounter look somewhat unique, even if a lot of them do tend to wear similar clothing since so many are a fan of the tucking outfit that doesn't actually make you any better a tucking (seen and done enough tucks with glowing and colorful outfits to know tucking works because people are unobservant more than anything).
So, it would be nice if more people realized they could dress their pirate how they like and not thinking they need to be in that one outfit, but the pirates in those outfits still look individually unique.
I think, if we had more control, you'd start seeing more similar pirates out there. Certainly far less beat up and ugly pirates as a lot of folks would push for an "attractive" appearance.
Anyways, hope you learn to settle in with something that generally works for you. I've been quite happy with my pirate for going on 3 years or so now, never even once considered resetting him or picking up an appearance potion. Also didn't spend ages working him up. Got him in about 10 generations and he was good enough that I was ready to play. I rarely see him anyways, being as the game is largely first person and there aren't reflections. Unless I'm emoting I don't even think about it.
Rare had this idea that they wanted players to pick a pirate quickly and jump in the game.
Unfortunately it doesn't work so well, in fact it actually takes longer for those who care about their characters appearance, having to continuously generate new pirates is a pain and takes so much time.
Being able to select a gender, generate a base character and then generate the eyes, nose, body, and age separately would make a huge difference, and scars/tattoos should be an option and not random.
