I bought a Capuchin, I like him so don't get me wrong but could you guys possibly make it worth while to buy one? I've noticed you can shoot them out of cannons so would it be possible to give them the ability to loot a small amount of supplies from an enemy ship after cannoning them onto it? (I know this one is a long shot probably not going to happen) or give them the ability to drop the anchor if fired directly at the anchor?

Not going to happen. The pets then become 'pay to win' mechanics which Rare don't want and is unfair on those who cannot afford or cannot buy a pet.
@nabberwar That's why I said in Parenthesis the dropping of the anchor isn't going to happen... but allowing them to loot a small amount of supplies wouldn't be a bad idea it doesn't cripple a ship to do that.
@withmyapologies players wouldn't have to use real money to buy pets if the ancient skeleton would appear more in the world giving players a chances to get ancient coins without out paying real money so therefore it wouldn't be pay to win.

It still remains a bad idea, because now my supplies is at risk of being stolen by a tool behind a pay wall. It still remains as a game-play advantage that someone can pay for. That is by definition pay to win.
Now who is to say it doesn't cripple a ship, what if I am low on supplies? on a few planks and the monkey steals the last ones? Regardless of how minor it is, it still gives the person who spent money against those who didn't spend money. Ancient skeletons drop pennies compared to what is needed for buying these animals, meanwhile someone who drops money on it gets it sooner.
How is this any different than what EA did with Star Wars Battlefront 2?
@red-zero1987
Neither of these will happen. The anchor being dropped is far too drastic to ever even be balanced, if paywalls and upgrading mechanics weren't an issue, that's why it being damaged by a cannonball and dropping was removed. A small amount of supplies being taken adds up though, especially since no one can stop you from doing it again and again. What if the ship has next to no of a certain resource, or if the monkey steals a cursed cannonball or pineapple or a trophy rare fish? Hunting for the ancient skeleton isn't fair either, since it's a combat advantage gained by playing for longer.
@ultmateragnarok Thats why they limit what supplies can be taken and the amount. also limit the amount of times you can fire the monkey out of the cannon per time span.

So you've resorted to calling people names now?

What if I only have one plank left and your monkey steals it? Or one rare fish?
What if I want to fire my monkey 100 times per session? why should I be denied that privilege when I've paid IRL money to obtain said monkey?Although it sounds like a fun idea, this suggestion has too many different connotations and complications and is not worth the discussion when Rare have already said that Emporium items will be cosmetic only which is fair to everyone.
@withmyapologies I was merely putting the suggestion out there for Rare to decide what they wanted to do with it. I understand your concerns that would be something that Rare would have to work out so it was fair to everyone and I thank you for being civil about it, but apparently other people seem to get butthurt and feel the need to jump on the post to be toxic just because they don't agree with with the idea.

Everyone who disagrees with me is toxic. Forums are for only liking ideas, no room for disagreement. That negative energy is unpleasant.
This is what I'm talking about.. it's perfectly fine to disagree but at least be civil about it in which you are not...
@jollyolsteamed I understand that and it was just a suggestion that I think Rare could find a way to make fair they do a good job with that.
@jollyolsteamed who knows maybe they will make pets available for coins or doubloons, these are all good ideas it's just a matter of what Rare wants to do.
@t-degennaro3106 That would be entertaining, we can throw puke at each other so why not have monkeys throwing feces at players that's a great idea!
@facehuggybear That would be funny, it would confuse the enemy crew to have the monkey running a cross their deck screaming after you fired it.
@captain-coel Never said it was pay to win and I'm not asking for that, it was just a simple suggestion for Rare to use if they wanted to. i think that the pets could be utilized alot more than they are thats all and I think Rare could find a way to make it fair for everyone they've been good at doing that so far.
@captain-coel said in [Suggestion] Make pets like monkeys worth while?:
@red-zero1987 your idea is pay2win, you dont seem to get that.
According to your logic I sound be able to fire my boots at a boat and have them bring back supplies. See how ridiculous that sounds? Cosmetics shouldn't be able to help you.
I dont think you seem to get it.. you ARE able to fire pets out of cannons why would they do that if they didn't some thing in store for them? So you are telling me cosmetics should do nothing but if you purchase a sword with a different skin its still works the same as a basic but it's just cosmetic hhmmm right so in your logic it shouldn't do anything. Right now they are cosmetic but that could change in the future and maybe Rare will change how the are acquired.
@red-zero1987 it's purely for fun, kid of like changing tour look. And they are behind a paywall which makes its P2W. This game having anything p2w is terrible, like your idea. If you want to fire something out of your boat to go get supplies from a different boat, might I suggest using yourself or a crewmate?
Critical thinking skills are lacking in modern day forum posters as they have and will continue for the rest of eternity fail to grasp the concept of a cosmetic addition that provides no gameplay interaction.
If I had a penny for every time this same request gets reposted here and continue to get said penies for as long as said feature is not implemented (which is going to be never) I will probably have more money than elon musk and bill gates combined.
But then again right, why use your brain? Make me rich instead.
