Finally... i think Rare have hit the nail on the head with the dark relic updates. There's no "do this missiom 5 times"
Okay the same idea is hidden behind "return this item 10 times" but at least now i get an option of which mission to do... I've already found i hate the ancient Isles one... not a chance I'm fighting gold skellys on the top of plunder valley or in the depths of Devils Ridge solo.
Mercenary mission repeatability
I don't know, I enjoyed the last round of quests as well.
My real problem with these new quests is that they make the regular Order of Souls quests terrible by comparison.
Instead of going to an Island and fighting captains right away, we have to fight through several waves of cannon fodder. For me, those are the least rewarding missions; too much effort for not enough reward.@partyinsanjuan I do agree, I really wasn't a fan of the Order Of Souls missions. I finished that grind in the Devils Roar, having those geysers going off really helped make the quests easier. Also with these current missions you're guaranteed a Villainous Bounty Skull, where with regular OOS missions you could come back with any old skull.
I just liked the "return so many of this item" instead of the "complete this quest 5 times" way of wording the objectives. I know essentially it has the same outcome, but I prefer this way of promoting repeatability.
I'm still really struggling to find an Evil Eye though. Still got 8 more ritual skulls to find so I'm hoping one of those Eyes turns up soon. I don't even mind that I haven't found one yet, it will add to the feeling of success once I do finally unearth one.
LOL. I've gotten 4 Gold Skellies on top of Plunder Valley every time.
TIP! You can see on your quest map that they are Goldies. So stop off at Lost Gold Fort or Sailor's Knot Fort on your way there and pick up 4 Powder Kegs. 1 for each Captain. It may mean a few trips to the Ferry of the Damned. But it makes the "killing" go quickly.
Of course I just leave the skulls. Got not need for them. So that saves me a lot of time running back and forth too.
@viperishemu2992 LOL, Yeah, I've been staying away from the Ancient Isles, you find in The Wilds you always get Dark Skelly's and in the Shores of Plenty always plant one's.
After getting 4 Gold ones on Plunder Valley and then 4 Gold ones in the depths of Devils Ridge I came to conclusion that I prefer plant and dark skellies more
@guybrush3pwood2 At the end of the day I think it comes down to big island vs little island. Fighting close to your Ship is just so much easier, faster and safer.
Personally I don't like fighting the Shadow Skellies Solo. But with a buddy to "shine the lantern" they are a piece of cake.
Powder Kegs for slow moving Goldies is the way to go when Solo!
@viperishemu2992 I actually quite like fighting the dark skeletons on my own. quickly changing to the lantern and back again to the sword always breaks their defence for a moment or can save you from that pirate killing volley of blunderbuss shot.
I guess we've all got our preferences. I don't mind fighting far from my ship, I just hate fighting gold ones far away from water.

I hate it too. Especially when they have blunderbusses and pistols. That's why I take powder kegs to ruin their party. :)
