Is the Blunderbuss back to being One Hit Kill? I was fighting with another crew and every shot they took with the Blunderbuss killed me outright but mine weren't killing them the same way? This was incredibly frustrating.
Blunderbuss One Hit KO
@gryph1418 It has never been unable to one-shot-kill. They nerfed the individual pellet damage so that you have to land more of them to get the one-shot but it has always been possible.

With how you are wording this, isn't that somewhat proof of how unreliable it is? Only your enemies seem able to one-shot, except you. It could just be a case of your opponents are significantly more proficient with the weapon in comparison to you.
@xcalypt0x ok cheers, I haven't experienced it for a long time and thought they'd changed it. I hope it get's changed, I don't mind 80% damage but 1hit KO isn't fun.
@nabberwar Yeah exactly, granted I'm not super experienced with it as I prefer the pistol but why would I use anything other than a one shot blunderbuss whilst fighting on sloops?
@gryph1418 It's almost impossible to get the one shot without aiming down sights. You get a much tighter spread if you ADS. The range is pretty bad on the blunderbuss though. It will usually lose to flintlock and eye-of-reach. It's a very niche anti-cutlass weapon.
@xcalypt0x On a brig or galleon (and land) I find the pistol is pretty good but on a sloop the blunderbuss definitely has the advantage
...why would I use anything other than a one shot blunderbuss whilst fighting on sloops?
Plenty of reasons, my personal reason is consistent damage. Excluding the whole hit registration issues, I know that if I hit someone with a pistol shot they will be reduced to half health. I know that if I follow up with three sword swings they are dead. I could say the same with the Eye of Reach, one shot with rifle combined with two sword swipes kills them outright. I don't have this with blunderbuss, because I can't reliable know how much damage I deal.
Another reason, is range advantage. Whilst fights are on ship, not all fights are. On land blunderbuss is useless unless I am point blank. Even on ships, I can consistently aim reliable with both Pistol and Eye of Reach, their is a lot of narrow spots for players to go so aiming while they tunnel isn't hard. Throw in the ability of bullets to go through wood precision weapons work wonders.
All I sacrifice is a completely unreliable one-shot potential, but I gain much more than I lose. I keep range with still fast reliable weapon combinations that ensure a speedy death for enemy combatants.
At least, that's what I think.

I hope they don’t change it. It is already difficult to be effective with it (as you noticed). It’s a shotgun. It should be deadly in close combat.

I know how you feel, so don't let it frustrate you too much. Today you might die to pipe-toting pirates, but the next crew you face might not be such hotshots. The only way to get better is just to play more. The only important thing is that you're having fun.we've struggled yesterday with a crew which used blunder only. We couldn't board them because they one shot us easily, so we changed our strategy: Shot one of them with the EoR, then we fired some cannons to keep them busy. Then we've boarded again (but with two persons) and killed them with pistos, avoiding close combat because of their blunder. At the beggining we were frustrated about the Blunder strategy of them, but that's what makes SoT so amazing: With a good coordinated team and strategy planing you can handle everything.
Originally the blunder was a 1 shot KO at range so you could snipe peeps to death and the out cry was salty and plentiful. The Devs soon nerfed it about a month after launch so I think this was the first and only weapon nerf until they started the endless weapon "balancing" that started with the double gunning out cry that started due to the streamers jumping on the bandwagon. I am glad that they haven't messed with the blunder since that first nerf because I think it's perfect as is. The best way to get a 1 shot kill with it is to be almost touching the enemy player (any range decrease the damage and pellet accuracy by a truckloads the more you are away from your target) and you really need to be aiming down the sights to tighten your pellet spread. So if these requirements aren't met then you won't get your 1 shot kill will opens you up to a counter attack and alls the enemy has to do is keep their distance from you and fire away with pistol or sniper. Seems pretty balanced to me but with Rare's track record I am sure at some point they'll start to "balance" the blunder endlessly if there's enough outcry.
