A weird story about a wacky ferryman

  • We were on an Athena mission in Devils Roar. Our team consisted of two people. Parallel to the Athena mission we had voted for Gold Hoarders Tall Tale to receive the amulet for sailing on the red seas.
We had not started the Tall Tale at all, but only the Athena mission. Finally we parked right next to the volcano The Devil's Thirst to fetch six chests. This was the penultimate mission of the Athena Missions. Our ship was filled with loot. My comrade died, but the gate of the ferry did not open the way back to our ship - but directly into the vestibule of the final fight of Gold Hoarder's Tall Tale! My comrade had never conquered the labyrinth of this Tall Tale before, he was very irritated and amazed. He started a stream so that I could follow him using my laptop as I continued the Athena mission. We thought the ferryman had been mistaken for a moment, and if the comrade died again, he would return to the ship. We were wrong - after my next visit to the ferryman I was also in the final fight against the Gold Hoarder. Sigh, I had already defeated him eight times, and in the meantime our ship stood next to a volcano, left alone, full of treasures and skulls! We have defeated the gold collector as quick as two can do. As soon as we where able, my comrade wanted to fetch the ship. Next time he died, the ferrymen led him back to the ship. To our surprise and relief, the ship was intact, all treasures were on board, but the amulet had disappeared. So we could not cross the red sea to transport the skull. We had to restart the Tall Tale mission to get the skull. So we both had to return to the outpost. I hid the skull and used the mermaid. We started the mission again, crossed the Red Sea, found the skull intact, and finally were able to finish the Athena without loss and sell the Goald Hoarders skull, too.

    Weird bugs, wasn't it?

  • Weird and lucky.

Tbh i like things happen this way XD

  • If you died in the boss fight and had to redo the maze every time they would be more people on here complaining about that then the fact the one pair of guys did two things same time with the boat ina different location. What u experiences wasn’t a bug just two guys being overconfident - next time you do it the guy in the islands can’t die or else u go back to the room vs gold hoarder again and rightly so!

And also in the tall tale the pirate lord tells ur the shroudbreaker is running out of power and the idea is that when we return back from the shroud it would be final use it ever had and breaks but because u completed the tall tale with the boat out of the shroud already - the game thinks u have already sailed out of the area!

I like your efficiency but the game didn’t design for you to literally both be in different locations, when a crew start a talk tale it’s designed that the crew finish it.

So no bugs, devs didn’t think one person would be dropped off to finish the shores of gold well rest did a voyage

  • @itskingbertie If you meant that funny, I didn't get it, if you don't, you didn't get it :)

None of us had been dropped of to start the tale.
We spent our time at the same location, Devil's Thirst and our ship.
We both did just the arena at devil's roar: We killed our skeletons, dug treasure and delivered silk.
None of us started the tale.
Nobody had placed his foot on the hidden island.
No puzzles had been startet, not to mention solved.
No medals had been collected, no doors had been opened.
    No traps had been overcome.

The ferryman threw us directly into the final fight of a never begun Tall Tale.

    nice

  • @goedecke-michel
Well, technically you had started the Tall Tale because you voted on it and got the Shroudbreaker.

    @ItsKingBertie
And obviously, the devs did design you to do Tall Tales while doing other voyages because you can have a Tall Tale and another voyage active at the same time. So having people in different locations while doing this is actually quite common. (@Goedecke-Michel I do understand this is not what was actually being done in your case.)

All I say is don’t complain then should have just finished it and got the 10k! I wish I had just done that and saved a while doing the vaults!
