Heavy lag problem

  • Hi, I play Sea of Thieves on Pc but I don't know why I have a serious lag problem cause my ping is higher then 300-400. I really don't know which is the problem cause this is the only game where a I have ping issues. My internet connection is 20 Mb/s, ok is not so high but I repeat, this is the only game where I have this kind of problem so I don't think is a problem of internet speed. The strange thing is that sometimes, but not always, I start with 400 ping, but after 5 or 6 minutes, or after the first death, I have a good ping, between 80 and 120, with no lags at all and finally I can play, but more offen this doesn't happen and the ping doesn't change and ,even if I died, the game takes a very long time to respawn me cause yes the ping is sh***y.
I already tried all the suggest that the support gives to me:
-Try another antivirus / firewall (if you are on PC) ----- I use only windows defender but anyway disabling it and the firewall nothing change
-Change your NAT to open ---- my NAT is open and xbox live say "latency 60ms" and "packets loss 0%"
    -Open up official Xbox Live ports ----ports 88, 3074, 53, 80, 500, 3544, 4500 already opened
-Turn off IPV6 in the router settings ----done
-Turn off Teredo on selected routers ----done

Nothing happened, I still can't play SoT

Go to https://www.meter.net/ping-test/and run it, what is your average ping?

20 mb/s shouldnt be an issue with playing the game.

  • @dottorozzo

I think a good few pirates have noticed recently that ping and fps seems to be varying a lot in game, my average ping using the website above is 55ms but in game can vary between 60 and well over 100+ sometimes.

I wonder if it's connected with the Azure servers which Xbox use as likewise I don't tend to experience these issues in other games.

My median ping, from that test, is 25 ms...so the problem is not my ping.
I think the problem of this game are the servers, not my provider or my modem/router or my pc...

    Ok well thats certainly odd.

I guess last resort would be to delete game files and reinstall.

Is there a chance your xbox app thinks your in a different location?

Try this tip from Microsoft's help website.

Select Start > Settings > Time & Language > Region.
Under Country or region, select your new region. You can change it back any time.

Maybe even cycle a different country, then back to your native country.

I don't think that reinstalling the game again can be usefull, simply cause thanks to the last update the game was already reinstalled for the players. And anyway I had the this problem before and after the reinstallation.
As you said I tried to change my region and country, restarted pc and changed again my region and country ...but again nothing changed. I have 200 ping or more I when I move I got teleported to the original position before the movement, this is my kind of lag in this game ...really I never saw a so serious lag before this game in all the other online games that I play.
