Sunken ships, it's time to up the ante a bit

  • A sunken ship has for to long just been a pit stop to pick up some easy loot. Sure some sharks can come now and then. But I think it's time to up the ante a bit...

    Mye idea:

On all sunken ships there are skeletons. Inside the ship and some can float around the surface of the ship. Sometimes they are just there. Floating around. Completely dead.

But other times. Not at all.... You could be in the middle of the sunken ship thinking everything is OK. But then suddenly they come alive. As you soil your fancy pirate pants by suddenly moving skeletons and scary music starting, you and your crew know you have come across a cursed ship.

A fierce battle against skeletons and not drowning starts. Fight in water or on ship as skeletons wont hesitate to climb on board to fight.

As the battle is ongoing the water starts to boil as the long fallen captain is rising from the dark depths angry for the disturbance. Now it's a battle against two crews and it's captains.

Survive and the cursed crew's loot will come floating up from the depth where the captain once rested guarding gold and valuables worth the risk and battle.

  • @binaryplayerone As I had a look inside the artbook, I am pretty sure the merfolk will once populating the wrecks.

    That would be even cooler!

One of my posts on skeleton ships includes a section about the idea of skeleton ships disguising themselves as shipwrecks, and rising out of the water once they are boarded or a ship lingers around it for too long. This would be even better!

  • @ultmateragnarok That sounds fun to! I'm for all of these ideas to be honest.

Add some unpredictability to the sunken ships would be great. Be is skeletons that comes to life. Or the merfolk claiming it. Or as you write the entire ship suddenly coming to life.

Things that will make the player be excited to see a sunken ship but also a bit nervous of what could happen. And with great risk a big reward should always come. Make it worth the risk...worth jumping up in your chair/sofa as calm water suddenly becomes a nightmare... :D

  • Some great ideas here - the panic of seeing a skeleton reanimate could also make your Pirate gasp - losing some precious air!
That could make the risk of a deep sea dive to a wreck even more perilous!

  • Those are some good ideas here. But you have to remember the people aren't always going to be want to fight the skelly ships. The current supplys you gather from the sunken ship and the loot gathered from it would make it unbalanced in the sence that the risk wouldn't be worth the reward.
    Just something to think about.

Well my suggestion of skeletal shipwreck fakes did have the inclusion of the birds circling it being skeletal. You could avoid it if you knew what signs to look for...

  • @ultmateragnarok This is true, however after the release of Shrouded Spoils there has been an increase in sales and new commers into the Sea of Theives community; this is forshadowing the alarming rate of people not knowing what their in for when they come upto a sunken ship.

  • @teck7772

Well exploring the depths should always have danger to it, everyone should know there would be risk in not knowing what to expect.
