We need a fix for Pirate legend trolls.

  • Pirate legends are without a doubt the absolute worst part of the community. All they do is troll players, grief, and betray alliances because that’s all they want to do now that they’ve spent time grinding over 900 hours into this game. And everytime anyone calls them out for it they just say “WeLl ThErEs NoThInG To dO” as if that’s somehow our fault. If they’ll stop when you give them end game content, please do that. If they’ll stop when you put them in their own servers, do that. If I need my own server and I need to play alone I really will at this point. They are in every server I play on and they are absolutely toxic.

EDIT: I don’t expect many people to come back to this post and read this or anything, but I just wanna extend a thank you to this community for being cool about this post. Especially considering how upset I was.

I will say that I at least somewhat stand by my point, it would be cool for Pirate Legends to have a server that is perhaps a lot harder than the regular game mode where only they can play. A new game plus of sorts. Or even goals which get them out of the “I have nothing to lose” mindset that births the trolls.

But assuming and hoping some of these replies are actual legends that are all as cool as they say, then I really hope I find you all on the seas.

Sadly, this is a very pressing problem. They have been given endgame content (commendations) but they will return to this once they finish. The issue is they do not feel like they need to do quests anymore, and resort to killing people instead. Hopefully they will go to the Arena or something similar.

Not all legends are bad, some d things like giving away free stronghold treasure or clearing skeleton ships (no one else wants to do them).

  • @tortuousstorm3

Unfounded, & a some what unfair appraisal IMHO.
Each to his own... I guess
Plently of Legends... doing great things.

  • @tortuousstorm3 seems like you have been through a tough session.

Not all legends are toxic trolls nor are all toxic trolls legends.

The ones that hunt you are PvP oriented or trolls or just in the mood for some action. There is a whole other set of legends doing their own thing, helping others out, which avoid combat unless provoked and unless you stumble into them you will not notice them.

Now, I wouldn't characterize myself as a peaceful legend and I try sneaky things all the time. Though I am also not sailing the seas with that as my mission. I am out hunting for treasure and I see what tales the sea is preaching which I more than happily take part in, which has been my approach from day one.

I have stories of epic battles, casual sailings, epic losses, thieving masterpieces and frustrating infuriating tales of betrayal and violence. Addition forgot to mention the epic collaborations or being a 1 life merc.

Legends tend to do it all, based on which tale is told that day is up to you, the sea and the pirates you encounter. Learn from them and adjust your fate in the future.

Don't let a couple of pirates paint the picture of us all, we are more diverse than you think.

  • I have meet some very cool Legends lately! Your wrong!

  • My friend and I have had the same problem three sessions in a row, we are doing a skull fort when, upon finishing the fort ... 'whats that i see coming from behind Wanderer's Refuge?' But of course, a full crew of 'Bored Pirate Legends' wearing full PL or Ghost gear in an Athena's ten galleon coming to take our loot! Reason: None, Material Objective: None, Wishes: To make my day a misery. Three times its happened and three times consecutively we've had to use the mega keg to get rid of them.

Whilst I am aware that not all PLs are like this - some want PvP, some want money, I have a problem with the ones who 4 vs 2 you then once you finally get taken out having taken 2 or 3 down with you. Guess what? They gloat on the Ferry about how they 'haha, wrecked you mate guffaw, guffaw, guffaw e.t.c'

  • A videogame god complex if you will.

  • Dude chill! You're jumping to conclusions.

  • I also think you badgeless forum posters are the absolute worst part of the community. Cycle of love and cycle of hate babyyyyyy.

  • So PL the first month since launch. I don't troll, grief, betray any pirates at sea. Those who do are probably play2grind which really isn't how the game should be played. If they complain there's nothing to do, then you should laugh and tell them find another game to play and leave server. #notmypiratelegend

I don't think Rare will change how people interact in the world since it's peoples decision to be troll/griefer/pirate. The only solution is for you to laugh at their efforts and leave the server, wait a few minutes join game again. If you are looking to play peacefully I have noticed late nite (after 11pm Pacific Time) the servers are pretty stale and lonely. So chin up and keep fighting.

  • @letslipthedogs Always here to help. Sorry i've been busy running with other mates, but glad to see you getting things done sir.

If it will make you feel any better I was already doing all of those things before I hit Pirate Legend(which I never actually bothered grinding for). :)
I enjoy the pirates life, sinking ships, stealing treasure, sailing under false colors and all those things that pirates and blackguards do. :)

  • @tortuousstorm3
Sir, with all my respect , do not pull us all over the same comb . i am a pirate legend , i mean ,i have completed 50 Levels in every section.Legend is just a reflection of the time you have spend.Real Legends of the Sea are those with an exceptional personality and that could be you ,without even carrying the title of Legend Pirate. talking about this title , i don't carry that word above my head , don't wear those clothes because i simply don't feel myself more nor superiour than you nor anybody else...so ...there is no hair , not one , that thinks nor feel himself better than the Level 1 Pirate ...At any time , people can sail to us and ask for help , for explaining mechanics to solving riddles or find X marks the spot … People that attack us may expect something in return but i'm sooo bad at PvP that they mostly win...And that's good because i don't mind losing…

But something more has entered me , after becoming legend ...if we , the crew and me , spot a totally new player , we welcome him /her , An alliance has been offered and a gift in the form of a chest , skull , gem or Merchant box is offered as a welcome gift...Why ? Since breaking people is so easy but welcoming and gaining trust of the suspicious and maybe scared New Pirate is much difficult but oh soooo more rewarding…

i can not put my hand in the fire for many Legends but i do can look at myself , the crew i'm usually in , all Legends by the way , and many other Legends that i have come across during many, many adventure , who really mean it well...There is no doubt that there are Legends that destroy you because they may be bored but there are hundreds of Legends that are still living or experiencing their Dreamgame and still can grant a newer Pirate the sunshine in their eyes…

Please do not generalize a part of the community and paint them like they are demon infested punks ...i do care about every Pirate that needs or wants help if...he or she doesn't attack first...
And new Pirates i try to approach like any old shepherd would do with a scared lamb...i Do want them to come back and treat them very friendly in the hope they may "feel" that happy making Magic that has possessed my Soul...i want them to return and i will never attack them on sight ...And that's not a promise , that is a pure fact...

    Reason: contest stronghold loot
Trash talk: pretty common at all levels in PvP

Skull forts are a PvP beacon and waiting for others to clear it before going in for the loot has been a tactic since day one.

I do not see this as trolling or pirate legend specific behavior other than wearing their flashy outfits, they did that before in sailor standard visuals.

This tale you are telling is not illustrative of the toxic ill willed legends you want to illustrate. It is just a tale from the sea of Thieves.

  • But when they stand nothing to gain but money (and have full max tier ghost cosmetics) and ,upon sinking your brig/sloop and killing you, are so offensive and in the middle of the day, with the server heaving with brigs and galleys, decide to attack my little sloop.

  • I get PvP, I get grinding for money, I DON'T on the other hand get camping behind a rock for thirty minutes with the intention of stealing from, but particularly BM'ing a crew that poses 0 threat and 0 challenge.

I'm sorry but I struggle to understand the mentality of it.

  • @generalbuckfoi
And there will be other Legends that see an uneven fight and sail over to assist you a bit , making the odds more fair ...Some of those are Legends too , even if they don't wear those clothes ...Remember that not every Legend wear his or her uniform...And verbal trash ,is cheap and can come out of every person able to speak...

  • (That and the god complex)

  • @clumsy-george
And I appreciate and love that element of this amazing community. Its just that there is a certain type of PL, rare albeit, thats soul objective is to prove themselves better, be rude and abusive and to troll the teams they join to power their god complex.

You remember the bad experiences more than the good ones. Still, I love the nice PL and quite frankly the nice players in general who help in your crew and from other crews.

If you loose "your" loot, it isn't yours. How come you know and judge their wishes?

  • @urihamrayne
Sorry, having an opinion. I love this game and the majority of people in it. I'll leave opinions to experts such as yourself. If this community had no 'badgeless forum posters' it would represent what? 1% of the community.

  • @goedecke-michel
The crews in my experience have (in two of three scenarios) sailed away without the loot as they don't need it or want it.

  • see what I mean, badgeless people like @generalbuckfoi can't even take a joke. truly the worst we got in this website :^)

  • @generalbuckfoi not your judgement.

  • @goedecke-michel
Perhaps not, but thats what they've done.

There the best people to kill! You get the best reactions aha admittedly they are not vet family friendly but usually always funny :P

We once got attacked by a crew and we killed them and they got salty at us for it. Had me in stitches :P

  • @urihamrayne
Sorry if it was meant as a joke but having spent the past ten minutes responding to angry replies, its a bit hard to differentiate.

  • @knifelife
I know, but me and a friend who is new to the game can struggle to stand up to a 4 man galleon.

  • @urihamrayne At any rate, see you on the seas I guess.... Though preferably not UrihamRayne. I can have an opinion and these forums are supposed to cover everyone - see from all perspectives. Its people like you that make it a hell of a lot harder for new players to join the community and share their experiences with your snide comments and 'jokes' constantly coming through.

  • @clumsy-george
Its people like Clumsy George that make it easier.

  • As a PL founder, and pioneer, I enjoy teaching others the finer points of sailing and combat. I often do LFGs when friends are unavailable, and routinely astonish fellow PLs with what they don't actually know. I often have the crew vote on what to do, and if they want to attack and sink other ships to test out what they learned from me, then who am I to get in the way of their fun? It's ultimately up to you to keep your head on a swivel and to adapt and act quickly in ever-changing situations. Good luck out there!

  • @generalbuckfoi
When you get older , you realize that it isn't all about winning...And that you're not alone in the world ...i, once , generalized that multiplayer games were full with people that couldn't stand my voice or accent ...The many verbal beatings had marked me out of the microphone. It is this game , and this Great Forum Community that placed a hand in my isolationed cave ...Thanks to them , i saw and realized i was wrong in thinking about everybody in the same negative way...They had planted a little seed ,that was allowed to grow in this Forum and later the game itself ...Now it has been a second nature to welcome Friendly Pirates ...Does this mean we can't fight and battle anymore ? Of course not , we have once battled for two hours straight ,in a sportmanship way , and at the end ,both crews were exhausted ,rised the white flag and move to a tavern to have a drink, recollect certain parts in the battle and had a good laugh...Two pair of "enemies " walked into that tavern...Four friends walked out laughing very hard over both massivly missed shots....THAT is Sea of Thieves too...

  • @clumsy-george
I completely agree, my original post was generalising - but after this happening three consecutive times, I was completely fed up. This games great gameplay, community and adventure greatly outweigh the less nice people and experiences. People will remember the bad experiences better in an otherwise good game in the same way people remember the good experiences in an otherwise toxic game i.e Overwatch Competitive (i love that game all the same, before i'm berated once more).

  • I'm a pirate legend. I'll say that I sometimes do that. Let's be honest, it's fun. Even if you aren't a pirate legend. But I also help newbies in the game doing their voyages and that kind of stuff. Also, I rarely do alliances. And some tips: Never, trust a pirate. NEVER. Also, your ship is your most valuable bounty, never leave your ship alone or unattended.

Edit: Also, I mostly never attack noobie ships or players. I only attack players who have or appear to have some experience. Because, it's not fun ruining the experience of a newbie, and also it's not fun if it's sooo easy.

  • @urihamrayne We don’t take kindly to non-badge folk around here!
