2 man and solo galleons.

  • Why you do this? You're just making things significantly more difficult for yourselves.

  • Sometimes I like to g t in early and get the ship ready. Load up on Cannon Balls. Be at the dock and get a really good quest ques up. Etc...

Other than that yes I agree. It is an epic pain to sail a Galleon alone.

  • I don't think anyone does it on purpose mate, more of a people just left/ people will be joining soon sort of thing

  • I have many instances of soloing the galleon, primarily due to my crew offloading or collecting supplies from islands. I have been confronted more than once by sloops and galleons whilst being the only one on the vessel. Sometimes it hasn't ended well, but the majority of the time I can out sail the other crew until mine is back aboard. It is also effective as mentioned before for loading supplies until the crew shows up. We run a closed crew and do not deal with the variances that come with that. Each of my mates is also skilled at soloing the galleon and just like the sloop after a bit of time on the water it becomes second nature. Maybe not always ideal, but very manageable.

  • and of course there are the server hopping fort junkies to blame for this spike. rare should nip this by making 2 the minimum number to crew a galleon.

  • @squallycircle7 or 3 as it originally was.

I did it a couple of times just to see what it was like. FYI at one time you actually couldn't take a galleon solo because the game required that you invite additional crew if you selected a galleon. A couple of updates ago that changed, and rather than try and steal a galleon, I merely checked one out at the library before entering the game world.

And it's not all that much work if you know what you're doing, but it is more difficult to anchor and get going again, but out on the open ocean it's pretty easy sailing.

  • Yea I don't think most players would argue that playing solo on a Galleon is wasteful and foolish. I mean, the most value in the action anyone might receive would relate to the seriously increased difficulty....

But even I have launched the game in a solo galleon and waited for friends who were delayed. Usually I just load up from the outpost as mentioned above. Drop a voyage and sail around so as not to be a sitting duck at an outpost.

There was ONE time my wait started to get long in the tooth. So I sailed from Daggertooth to Shipwreck bay... none of my upcoming crew mates were in the game and I waited there for several long minutes. I noticed a galleon in the distance at Crooked masts and said to myself... ah wth. I sailed in their direction slowly and was wondering if I might be able to abandon ship and sneak aboard their vessel and stowaway.

They ran away at full speed. Curiously Crooked masts ended up on my voyage so I parked where they were and waited.. my friends finally joined and we did our quest. The galleon returned to fight... we sank the heck outta them.

So was I technically a solo galleon player?

    Yea.. sure was.

The worst I've seen was a 2 man galleon and same deal... it's always a matter of waiting for friends or others to join but not wanting to sit in place. Which is something a few mates and I have done several times - usually for less than an hour or so... but we've done it. I've even fought the Kraken with 2 on a Galleon a few times killing her like that is kind of neat as a side note.

  • @fantome-of-blue sure, but figure solo on a much bigger ship. Everything takes longer. Cannons, sails, anchor. Even retrieving more resources.

  • @howdoishoot926 Yeah, which is why I typically don't do it. I just did it a couple of times to see what it was like :)
