Cursed Cannon Balls

  • By now we have all (mostly) seen the E3 trailer as well as skimmed blogs and interviews for any more details we can get about the upcoming content. One thing that I am insanely stoked for is the cursed cannon ball! These will be obtained from finding them in the world and from there, we will unleash havok. evil laugh

    We have a cannon ball that will make ships heavier, pulling them down so the middle deck fills with water. Cannon balls that can affect voice communication and cannon balls that make the crew "dance aboard their ship", as Mike says in his interview.

    My questions for you all are:

    Will they be floating in the water similar to a shipwreck or will they be lying about on islands?
    How many do you think we can hold?
    Will they have their own barrels?
    Is there going to be a way to steal them from other crews?
    Will we be able to pass them to other players like we can (soon) with the bananas?
    Would you use them primarily on skelly ships or in PVP?

    Also,

    What other kind of cursed cannon balls do you want to see in the future?

  • @ant-heuser-kush If skeletons board the ship, they are either swimming, climbing ladders. launching themselves from cannons, OR we have allowed them to get too close and they've rammed us.

    Also, do we need cursed cannon balls to actually sink their ships? If they do sink, do the skellies fall into the water or just despawn? I wonder if they will have a NPC limit of 4 skellies per ship?

  • @ant-heuser-kush I do not think they will be able to board the ship but I sure hope they do. Skeletons on board paired with a cursed cannonball to make everyone dance, sounds fun. Mix that with a couple of folks flashing the two different lanterns...

  • @ant-heuser-kush The closest I have seen to that is when @Spent-D (I think) ( @stacky-a) included something like this in one video he she did for an @lizalaroo ( @CaptnJaq) competition.

  • @ant-heuser-kush ooohhhh I like that! Having to carry them would be awesome. However, I'm kind of hoping they can only be found from Ghost Ships.

  • Yeah I don't really want more cursed cannonballs, rather I want different ammo types along with different foods and repair materials. I always wanted a frag cannonball that exploded mid air and instead of dealing damage to the ship it would be very dangerous against players, or a "tnt" cannonball, that doesn't travel far and explodes in the air, but if you are close enough the explosion could be devastating to ships dealing upwards of 5 holes at once, or perhaps even a "grog" cannonball that explodes into grog, not dealing any damage but instead making players drunk.

    The way these new materials could be introduced into the world is through the usual barrel system, but perhaps with extra indicators to where the rarer goods are, like a different collor tint in a barrel that contains the cursed cannoballs. These items should not ever be bought at outposts or available at them in any way, players need to go out in the world, shipwrecks or islands, making players go out and explore these landmarks and vistas with the added reward of getting rare special supplies.

  • @lifewcoke Lol thanks, I also made a gif of the skeles dancing too haha.
    Was from one of the betas before launch. I spent hours just messing around to see what the skeles would do and managed to get them to sync their timing perfectly haha
