After playing sea of thieves for a few weeks I have concluded that there needs to be more enemy types and more items to give the players more to do.
Since the themes of exploration vs combat are the two main cycles of this game any new content should satisfy both needs.
I suggest adding a object called a seed-pod into the game. Seed-pods would be carryable items like an exploding barrel but instead of exploding they could spawn a tethered man eating plant when the seed-pod "hatches".
they would occasionally spawn on jungle type islands as either a seed pod that spawned in the shade or as a fully grown plant that would drop a random type of pod once defeated. This would give players a reason to explore brush areas as these seed pods could be sold the merchant faction much like exploding barrels.
Also like exploding barrels these pods would have powerful combat options for players depending on pod type to either defend your unattended ship from boarders or to block/sink/cause havoc if hatched aboard the enemy ship or in nearby water.
Finally I'll mention the different ideas I have for pod types to give the game variety much like the different skeleton types in-game.
1.green pods; these pods spawn a non aggressive mass of vines that could be used to immoblize players and block ships.
2.red pods; looks like a giant red bulbed man eating plant that actively trys to kill players and skeletons. If it manages to kill either of the two or would grow in size and health turning a losing battle into a massacre.
3.yellow pod; spawns harmless tree that grows a large amount of bananas to be harvested by players
4.veno-pods; similar to a red pod but purple and attacks are similar to a snakebite
5.luminous-pods; rare blue glow in the dark pod that can be found in wet caves.
Expensive to sell
6.necro-pods/voodoo-pods; shriveled looking carniverous plant that works with, rebuilds, and summons skelatal lackeys who were cursed when they died to this plant.
7. The mega-pod; a gigantic plant boss that players must kill for "scholarly samples" as a high level merchant faction quest.
Thanks to everyone for reading I would love to hear any points or feedback.
Cheers!
