I would love to see some way of telling from afar that another ship is dangerous... Maybe marks on the ship, made, or by the color of the flag on the crows nest, that represent ship kills... So if you use a telescope and see a red flag on top with 10 marks... You know that it might be good to avoid this player, or try...
It could reset per session... And if you have only sunk like 1 ship, you just get a jolly Roger flag... Other flags or plain whute if no ships sunk...
This would make a way to avoid shady pirates or possibly find other friendly crews easier... It would make it way more intense having a sloop on your tail with 10 or 15 marks... "Tack the ship to catch the wind, they're gaining on us" "we cant let then get our loot!"
Anyways it would be cool... I hate pulling up to people who seem friendly only to have them sink me 5 min later... As im sure others get frustrated by this too.

I personally don't want any identifiers over me because even I don't know if i'm gonna be friendly and give you a chest or kill you because you were using bad language. it's anyones guess
@dafowlhunter Yes I am pushing for this too. Done in a bounty faction for PvP players giving them rep and commendations in that faction when engaged with other crews also doing the PvP bounty faction.
Perhaps even taking it further by decreasing or subtracting rep when they attack other crews who are not doing the same faction (i.e. the current Gold, Souls and Merchant).The bounty faction could only be toggled on at outposts, barkeep at taverns. Toggled off when a voyage is proposed.
It doesn't need to be the barkeep, they could introduce a new NPC. A shady looking character leaning against a post, perhaps even outside the gunsmith.
