I just had a blast roleplaying as a merchant scoop after I finished my voyages for the day. I collected supplies from forts and would go ship to ship, island to island, and give them away for free to spread good will among players as sort of an olive branch. All of my lanterns were on, my cannons raised, and I would wave to the other players on approach with my merchant officer title held high, along with proximity game chat voiced loud and clear. Here's a pretty good idea of how it went:
"Free supplies! Free supplies! Oi av boards that'll hold yer junker together, balls o steel, an fresh nanas!"
"Oi, stop blowin' holes in my ship!"
"I'm tryin to help ye!"
"You bloody w****r! I was offerin free supplies, but now that ya sank ma ship, ye get nuthin!"
"I betch ya feel like ah right stupid bloke now, don't ya? Shoulda listened ta me..."
Next time he saw me, at the skull fort raid, oh how did his galleon's crew listen. After all, I had already plundered the fort of all of its supplies and gunpowder barrels prior to their arrival...
