Recommendations for another pirate game?

    Now that the final beta is through I was wondering if anyone here could recommend any games out there that could fill the blunderbuss-exit-wound sized hole in my heart? The closest I could think of was Sid Meier's Pirates (2004) and after booting that up and messing around for a bit I, quickly found myself pining for March 20th instead.

    Ubisoft's Skull and Bones is something you might want to keep an eye out for.

    I know this has been said countless times, but Assassin's Creed: Black Flag is a fantastic pirate game. It's a better pirate game than an assassin game.

    Good question! I had the same when I got into trouble with Rare team and I decide to cancel my preorder (because they act like little kids...) unless they want to discuss.

    In 2018, they will be "Age of Seas", looks almost like Sea of Thieves with a round map and probably a lot of thing to do comparing to Sea of Thieves (it's not difficult at all I would say!). No one heard about this game because there is currently no translation into English and the developers are Spanish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vH4dMA48Rtg

    There is Black Flag or Risen 2 & 3 (quite old but I played Risen 2 for a while and despite it is really different from SoT, it really nice and also much cheaper).

    Blackwake if your on PC, it doesnt have a super active player base but its a lot of fun

    Risen 2: Dark Waters is a pirate-themed RPG. It's somewhat buggy in places, but still a cool game.

    @clutchachu Best pirate game I've played is STILL Sid Meier's Pirates! I was hoping that Sea of Thieves would replace it for me but that's still not the case.

    @tomawolf I never played that, although I think I just might have to. An oldie but goodie is the Monkey Island series. I know there isn't any ship combat but SoT and Monkey Island do share similar vibrant and beautiful visuals. Great humor too!

    @geekster-t A modern version of Sid Meiers Pirates! would be amazing! It follows the career of your pirate. It has it all! Sword fighting, ship-to-ship fighting, turn-based mini-games for on land attacks, and even dancing.

    You can grab it on xbox and steam for around $10 bucks I think.

    I played it again after playing sea of thieves alpha because I was so hyped about pirates again. But you forgot to mention that your pirate ages and every hit that you get in a fight makes you a slower fighter in old age!

    @barnacle-remson Very true! That did make it tough as you get up in age! While I hated to retire, it was a pretty cool idea!
