Coordinated Search for the Pirate Legends Tavern

  • So far, this is what i think is going on, And how i think we need to go about looking for the Tavern.

    1. I think it's all about how we look at it, idk who said it, but the whole "we probably go to it a lot" has a lot of promise to me. if the Devs are surprised we didn't find this, then it's safe to say it's because they've probably seen us AROUND it, or simply assumed it was obvious enough that we would indeed stumble upon it. I can't say if they've removed anything since the beta, so if the tavern is still here in this scale test or not, I don't know.
    2. The Goonies references MUST be it, with them all being forced to watch the Goonies, the Dev wearing the shirt and making constant References, They must of used one of them somewhere, maybe not the Tavern, but seems likely it is.
    3. I do not think we can Access it, but if they're surprised we couldn't find a tavern hidden inside a rock that we can't even open, then that wouldn't make a whole lot of sense. if they're surprised it's more than likely due to the fact that WHEN we find it, we'll know for sure it's what it is. maybe we can see the ghost, but cant get to them? or see the ship and tavern from outside, but can't go inside?
    4. this is my biggest point that i think will help the most. In Sea Of Thieves, there's a lot of attention to detail, the skeletons that are Easter eggs from the alpha, to the small skulls that were a part of the Games com event, they wouldn't slack now. My guess, is that the Tavern is in the Ancient isles, Why you ask? Because of the Water. In the top left, the Shores of Plenty, the water is Beautiful, vibrant blue, and bright. In the Wilds the waters are murky, and greenish tint, with little visibility in the water. And finally, Ancient Isles, Where the water is Dark blue, Similar to the Pirate Tavern Gif that was recently posted earlier in the Thread. plus the nail in the coffin, This quote from the wiki about the Ancient Isles,
"The Sea of Thieves developers have stated that this region's feel was inspired by the Indiana Jones film franchise, in terms of adventure, exploring ancient ruins, and solving their mysteries; along with old swashbuckling adventure stories and pirate legends." PIRATE LEGENDS.
I don't know about you, just trying to do my part in the ole' Sea Of Thieves Community, Let me know what you think! Obviously i could be HORRIBLY wrong, and i could already stated something stupid that's not right, But if i did feel free to correct me!
Have fun on the High Seas!
  • @star-inferno22 I believe thats it, I've been there before too, honestly I really hope its it at least. Been to every single freakin island and cant get my way in. But my money is really on Devils Ridge

  • So after reading the devs say they are surprised about people not finding it, like they have it hidden right under our nose. Also they mentioned needing a key to get to it, I think I might have possibly stumbled onto something. Picture
Is it possible that these doors lead to a cave system full of b****e traps that eventually leads to the legend hangout? This picture is from Galleons Grave Outpost but all taverns seem to have them behind them.

  • All the tavern npcs keep saying a new tavern is opening up at plunder outpost. I’ve scoured plunder outpost time and time again and I can’t find anything. I’ve even been to the very top of the mountain too

  • I got another thought I'd like to throw in.
We have those underwater caves where one (or more, not sure right now) has a maya-sytled shrine. Either you find the key there or have to place something on it in order trigger something to aquire the key.

Does anyone know what we have so far? So we avoid repetition of things.

I'm sure we're required to think outside the box for this one as Rare wouldn't make things too easy for us, now would they?

  • I don't know if it's been posted but there is an underground cave system with waterfalls on the NE side of Sailor's Bounty. It has torches and everything lining the caves and looked very much like the area in the video. Worth taking a look if you get a chance.

  • @star-inferno22 I found something very similar looking on Sailor's Bounty.

  • @bloodfrenzy187
NE on Sailor's Bounty? I'll give it a visit!
If you see a sloop approaching with a single player playing some shanties, it's me, so don't attack me if you're there :D

  • What he said about Plunder Valley, was there today and almost got lost.

My second name is Crook too though....

  • @inbred-chimera Oh my god are you saying it could be kind of like platform 9 and 3/4 in harry potter and you have to sail into what's seemingly a solid object? That would be hilarious if it hasn't been found cause nobody even thought of risking their ships even though you can get it back very easily.

  • I'm currently sitting on top of the mountain of Plunderer's Outpost. (scaring and confusing people is fun lol)
So far, nothing that could remotely hint the legendary tavern. I'll relax a bit longer and enjoy the view and the confusion of the galleon doing its rounds around the outpost lol

  • Is nobody going to mention the glowing locked door on Old Boot Cove?

  • What if the legends tavern is located wherever this game designates its “North” our north points to the North Pole, what if this North points to the tavern???

  • I explored the map for two days I notice that none of islands are suitable to hold a waterfall big enough to fit a galleon ship; but I notice there are arches that ships can sail through.
So my theory is the arch in the middle at M 14 or close to it on map is a portal to go to the hideout and no one has a key so the portal to the hideout remains closed. My reasoning it is literally smack middle of the map so easy access to rest of the map. Another reason why a portal to get to hideout you would be a legend to appear out of nowhere (or out of the arches that I notice are placed around the map). There are other reasons but these two are easier to explain

I think that it may also be on Paradise Sppring, reason, there is a very tranquil pond in the middle of the island that looks similar to he one that is walked through in Pirates of the Carribean to get to the fountain of youth

  • Discovery Ridge is also well worth checking out!

  • Guys, i don't know if someone mentioned this already, but i know they say you sail OUT of a waterfall, but that's only when you're legendary CAPTAIN, i reckon you enter the hideout somewhere other than a waterfall, but when the hideout becomes ''Yours'', you gain the ability to sail out of a waterfall. Maybe they'll let you choose which waterfall on the map you wanna leave out of, considering the legends are ghosts and whatnot.

  • Wow this thread is the best troll I've seen in a very long time. I can't believe this is still going on. It's awesome! 😂

  • I think the legendary hideout will not be on an island where you can complete quest and more on an uncharted place

  • My theory the hideout will not be near the physical exit therefore entrance could be few blocks to opposite side of map then the exit I feel will be a known island

  • @casesugar401098 have you explored the entire map yet?

  • Isn’t the Pirate Legends Secret Hideout only accessible to Pirate Legends??? Why try if you won’t be able to get in?? Why not worry on becoming just that first?

  • <<surprise about people not finding it like they have hidden right under your nose>>.

The storm is still under your nose.
Why not in the eye of the storm?

  • I had to rewatch "The Goonies" again, to look into possible entrances.
They found the entrance in the bottom of a Restaurant (Tavern) in the movie.

  • @dellaint hmm if its thieves haven then maybe you would have to be there during a rain storm or something and sail your boat into the middle of the island? im not sure just speculation

  • @jaxograverot lighthouse, island, restaurant. 100 paces to the most northern point hahah.

  • Was at Sailor's Bounty earlier and thought back to this thread. It really does feel like that it could be an excellent location for this.

Meh that island has barely anything at all.

Devil's Ridge and Plunder however, are both great possibilites.
I've joined in the search for fun just for the last few hours of the final beta I could play, I think the search is fun but it's too desperate and we should probably wait a bit more before even searching.

Devil's Ridge is filled with b***y traps skeletons and the tunnel leads to an interesting room.

Plunder has this "batcave" (I'm sure I've seen the bats somewhere else too. But the island is interesting and it has an interrupted stone staircase.

And this skull in the batcave. (I'm aware there's more skulls like this in the world but that doesn't mean they mean nothing)

  • @acedseth The underground cave system is pretty elaborate at Sailor’s Bounty. Large rooms, underground waterfalls, a river. I wouldn’t say it has nothing. It only looks insignificant from the shore.

  • I got nothing to go on other than my speculation but I would argue the tavern is in the Wilds. Anything narrower than that I would not be able to attest to which place to point ya'll too.
Why I think it's so is because of the number of krakens and shipwrecks you find up there. Based on the quote that they said something along the lines of 'people go there all the time' and 'surprised no one has found it,' wouldn't it then be safe to assume simplicity? For one, I was put off by the wilds when I started because it gave me the chills. Two, as I got more experienced I then felt un-unease--if that's even a word--going into the Wilds. Three, I would have a lot of respect for anyone being able to navigate through that biome(so to say) because of the number of dangers it poses. Assuming it becomes the like with their ideas of changing the world.
I could go on, but I'll at least give my 2 cents. Right or wrong come the month after release, we'll finally see where the obvious hideout was.

  • Maybe the large arch on the island with the fort will act as a portal once you have the rep and the waterfall is on the other side. We may not be looking for a waterfall, but instead, a means to come out of it.

  • @ghostpaw To be fair it was the last one on the list and I had a guy on me for 20-30 min of it so I couldn't explore too much of it.

Anyway, my guess is still Thieves Haven.

    my guess.
    purple skulls mean nothing.
this is sort of a personal map.

The boxes are the uncharted islands you've mentioned.

  • My speculation, after reading all the failed attempts, is simply that no one can or has access to the edges of the map as our ships will sink there. What if its simply an island we have yet to encounter as our map knowledge is limited.

Thanks goes to the board game Tsuro of the seas... Where each player enters the grid from a spot along the edge of the map...

    Respectfully,
    Malcolme

  • lads i got like two theories,

    1. it’s hidden off in the crimson tide and you can only get there using a specific path from a specific grid point on the map and that grid point is nigh on impossible to guess because the edge of the map is large.

    2. It’s something to do with that mysterious stranger bloke that hangs out in the taverns, like maybe when you’re legendary he like moves out of the way and lets you through the door behind him and it leads to the hideout, main reason I think this is there’s a tavern in the hideout called the tavern of legends, what if it’s like hidden in the door behind the mysterious stranger

    just some thoughts
