So last night at about 11:40 PST I pulled off a Jack Sparrow
I was playing Solo for the first time, and realized very quickly how terrifying seeing a 3 masted Galleon on the horizon can be when you're all by your onesies. I had a small ship full of 5 chests, and at the outpost I was going to cash them in at was docked a Galleon and its 4 man crew. I decided not to risk it, and cashed in my treasure at the next spot, but sailed back to their outpost through a storm to take them on in a blaze of glory before I signed off.
Their ship was still docked in the harbor and the were ashore, probably getting drunk in the tavern. My plan was to sneak aboard their Galleon with a gunpowder barrel, and then blow it up in the bilge. However they saw me on approach and rushed out to the beach to meet me. We exchanged gunfire and they quickly dispatched me. While on the Ferry of the Damned I knew I only had one more life to make it count for they were no doubt sinking my tiny sloop with my own gunpowder barrel. I respawned just in time to see my sloop sinking below the waves, and as they began to chase me I made my escape around the island.
Emerging on the other side of the island with the crew on my tail, I saw that they had left their Galleon unattended. I dived under the water, swam under the ship and hoisted myself onto the deck.
First I ran to the helm and turned it hard to starboard, before then anxiously raising the anchor hoping nobody would see me. The anchor raised and wind furled in the sails, and the ship lurched forward. I climbed the crows nest, and saw the crew running from the island out towards their runaway ship. The ship was starting to turn hard back toward the island...
I knew they would soon mermaid onto the ship, and I decided I couldnt let them stop the ships course. Once they were on deck frantically searching for me, I jumped down and let off some pistol shots. We exchanged gunfire as the ship sped towards the beach, and after taking a gunshot wound I jumped off.
I watched as the Galleon at full sail ran aground fully beached itself on the island! I don't mean that it just crunched a little, I mean the ships hull was entirely out of the water! No doubt it punctured holes all up and down the hull.
My head bobbing in the water, I watched as the mighty galleon slowly slipped back into the ocean, and immediately sunk below the waves.
As the groans of a sinking ship echoed around me, I searched for the crew... but nobody was to be found.
I still don't know what happened to them. Last I had seen them I was in combat with them on the deck before the ship beached... Did they go down with the ship trying to patch it up? Did they abandon ship and quickly find a mermaid? Did they swim out into the waves to extract their revenge only to be eaten by the sharks all around? (sharks almost killed me) Did they disconnect or rage quit? Did they laugh as their mighty ship was beached or did they not care?
I guess I'll never know. If you were one of the crew fell victim to my piracy please speak up I would love to hear your side of the story! I really hope this ws caught on tape or somebody streamed this, but as off now I'm happy with my victory.
Thanks to the Devs for designing a game like this where a player can pull off a feat like this, it will be a story I tell for a long time!
