I'm soloing it mostly, and I can't tell you how many chests I have lost recently. All because my boat just keeps disappearing. I'll be on an island and after a while I'll notice the boat gone with all my loot replaced by rising smoke
and a waving mermaide. Pretty sure the boat didnt sink nor was attacked, just vanished. Am I missing something?

Almost every large island has numerous cannon emplacements that Skeletons can and will use to fire at your ship. That's most likely what's happening. No one else has really reported their ship just disappearing. It's always either attacked, sunk by a storm, or something else happens to it to cause it to sink.
@the-lion-turtle Thanks for replying. Thats just it, I can't see or hear anything - no cannon fire no storms. In all my travels I've bumped into 1 other person. Its been happening since the server maintenance 24 hours ago.
@shaggiedo Maybe a small hidden hole on the mid-deck.... just letting enough water in over time to sink you?
@musicmee Mmmmm I was thinkin that also. I'm a pretty bad parkerer too, so usually before I disembark I check the hull, bail the water and hang around to see if more comes in. Is there any warning about taking on water apart from just the visual.
@shaggiedo There's an occasional slurping noise... but its quiet and could be easily missed.
Always check behind the map table and that fabric hanging from the window... they usually catch me out.
