HDR Too Dark (More Options Please)

  • Different players will have different HDR preferences. I don't understand why a Play Anywhere game offers so few graphical customization options on Xbox.

Night in The Wilds requires playing in a room with no lights. But that frustrates me less than the dulling of colors in HDR. When I take screenshots on my Xbox, I end up with both PNGs (SDR) and JXRs (HDR)... the latter of which, by the way, cannot be uploaded to social media sites like Twitter. My SDR captures have less definition, since they are converted from the native 4K HDR, but have more vivid and interesting colors.

  • Still disappointed by the fact the they haven't enable a HDR setting like most other games do. i want to be able to see what I'm doing at night. even the lantern doesn't help :(

  • Don't TV's have a brightness setting anymore?

  • I've had to up my gamma on my tcl s55605 and use the 11pt expert settings in order to get a brighter picture that works well for most games.

I wish all games had a hdr brightness setting.

  • Thing is its not the TV its the Game. All other HDR games look stunning. Sea of Thieves is dull dark and washed out with HDR on.

  • @stokenstein I have the same issue LG B7 55 inch on Xbox one x. I just have to turn off hdr on sea of thieves as can’t see anything at all st night makes the game unplayable with hdr on, needs a fix.

  • Yup it’s annoying but can be fixed individually. Prolly not a priority fix at the moment.

  • Even on my Led this is the only HDR game for me that’s so dark. Everyone has different tv’s. But some ppl just bash off and say it’s your tv settings fault or it’s a cheap tv lol. while it’s not. It’s the game itself or xbox. A super simple solution for people struggling with this is just a HDR/brightness slide option. That’s why every other HDR game has it. I’ve seen many posts about these lately but i feel like Rare is ignoring it.

  • this was demanded so often. Can't or won't rare correct that.

  • @voigtboy You know there is lanter in-game right ?

  • how can i change the quality of AA and use more gfx options for PC ?
i have all on maximum but maybe there is more to change ?

  • @oycupofteam8 some of it does come down to tv calibration but I finally have my TCL p series dialed in with the expert settings via the mobile app and this game is just too dark at night with HDR on. My set isn't 1000 nits, though, so that probably has alot to do with it. Daytime looks great, though.
