Guild Islands

  • Imagine an island for your guild. Perhaps when you choose to travel to your guild island, you are similarly phased in with 5 total guilds and their islands. Your island starts with nothing. You must sail with guild mates to nearby islands to get wood and supplies to build up your island. As your guild mates turn in missions and get achievements in the normal game, each mission completed earns the guild some separate currency only used to buy guild island decorations, etc.

    Ultimately you’d be creating an area for guilds larger than four players to all get together and meet. You’d also keep a sense of danger of exploring nearby islands for building supplies with other guilds potentially doing the same. Other guilds could also dock at your island so you could show it off.

    Guild islands would be an awesome social element, even at a more basic level to have a place for more than four friends to meet, drink grog, socialize, and pick out their crew.

  • That sounds like the Warframe version of guilds applied to SoT which sounds good but making the player able to navigate from one to another is not really posible.
    You create different instances for each guild and players can teleport between them but never sail, that would require for the devs to create an ever expanding MMO-like server that in no time would be too big for anyone to explore with a ship.

    great idea guys! Hope to see these things combined. Like a Guild map/instance where you indeed can get your very own crew island. I acknownledge your point @wTurok, the map would become far too big. Therefore a whole different instance would be a better solution. These might remove your @Haze-Grey idea, getting planks and cannonballs from adjecent islands and bring it to your own. Another idea is getting these resources from a guildwide questchain, so it'll include questitems and the devs could set it up more easily with said instance. :)

  • It would definitely be interesting. Guild Halls, homes, are always good ideas. Though, not sure how it will fit into the game. It would definitely be post-launch if it ever is. Maybe a Crew wars scenario. A mini-expansion for the game where you build up your fort and face off against others for loot when you capture their fort. (Not for keepsies) Though just a social hub as you said for more members would be nice. Would make having clans more welcoming for sure.

  • @haze-grey guilds, fleets, and clans are going to struggle with this game. As there seems to be a lot of walls in place to keep them from forming up. So whether its this, or some other system like it, I hope Rare makes it more accessible to groups like this.
