Better Safer Seas:

  • Hi. So for a start I've only recent taking the plunge into the waters of Sea of Thevies and Im going to be honest. They need some serious work. I have a few suggestions that I believe may make this a better experience for all (but do feel free to bring up counter points, I am down for a discussion.)

    1. Keep the 100% gold gain. I'm writting this bescause I fear Rare may try to remove it for my other suggestions.

    2. Please for the love of Neptune's Beard! Let us be able to buy and decorate the Captain ships. I know the whole point of the game is pvp but I rather know my hours of hard work won't go to waste bescause Stabby McGee decided to attack my vessel.
It's also good in the long run since we all know eventually the servers are most likely to shut down, I would like to still be able to get all the cool content. Brings me to my next point.

    3. Let the reputation, everything it entails and the cosmitics all be unlockabile and available in Safer Seas. I dont understand the point of locking this behind High Seas. Let the Players enjoy the game as they wish. If you have to make the pve stuff more challenging to balance things out, then do so. As long as you let me be able to do everything I can in the High Seas in Safer Seas.

    4. This isn't strictly for Safer Seas I just think this is a really good idea. Let us be able to save our cargo on our ships. Hear me out! Let us be able to log off (only at either a safe island that has no enemies/players or the Ports.) Do what Minecraft does and dont let people be able to log out and save unless no danger is around them.
This I feel is great solution for those that have to log off before they can conclude their voyage.

I believe that is everything I wanted to talk about. I've seen a fraction of what the game has to offer but I know I enjoy the sailing aspect and the sheer sense of advanture! With these inclusions I feel like players (such as myself) will be able to enjoy the pirate's life that they have always dreamed off. I really do hope, you think about my suggestions thoroughly.
    From lifelong pirate fan.

  • I don't think you'll get any of that for safer seas mate, people have been asking for this for awhile because they don't like PVP but remember that open seas will be available soon and that will basically give you full control over the game and your experience within it.
Have to remember the game is over 8 years old now.

    1. Understandable request
    2. No. Safer Seas cannot have it all. This gets requested so much, just gonna quote the mods on this.
    3. No. Voyages do not take ages to finish. Supplies are abundant nowadays. Storing them between sessions would kill the need to gather them even more and cause other balancing issues.

we all know eventually the servers are most likely to shut down

No one know this. Don't simply repeat what clickbait youtubers are claiming, my friend.

  • The game design and intent for Sea of Thieves is a shared world adventure, and it always will be. Those who wish to play in the confines of Safer Seas will always have the option but we will not bring the rewards and activities in line with those of High Seas when many of the restrictions are in place due to the risk vs reward factor that is inherent in Sea of Thieves - removing any risk means rewards must be balanced accordingly.

Safer Seas will act not only as a safe space for our Tall Tale players but also for families with children who just want to pirate, for people who want to play the game but learn the ropes and it will organically feed into Adventure mode, keeping the player pool there healthy and upskilled as they've learned the mechanics.

This is not only useful for new players but also families and players with accessibility needs - the whole game suddenly becomes available in a way it hasn't before, letting them naturally progress to High Seas and become a Pirate Legend. SoT has grown a huge amount in 5 years and it can be fairly overwhelming.

The borders put in Safer Seas mean that to experience the full depth and breadth of the game you will have to hit the high seas BUT if you're playing with your family you don't have to, you can just enjoy the game and have fun as a family.
