Act Two Deeds, And The Problem with The Weekender

  • TL:DR in comments

I've been getting back into Sea of Thieves after a couple year hiatus. I'm remembering how amazing this game can be and the fact that it is simply the best Pirate experience on the market.

But here is the "however"... I've been hit with the reminder of how much Fear Of Missing Out is in this game...
Way back when, myself and many others have purchased this game for $60, and now more recently for $40 on steam. The amount of quality of life options locked behind a pay wall feels too high.
One example I can think of right now is not being able to make your character, but then forcing people to pay money if they decide later that their Pirate isn't to their liking feels gross.

I also understand that it's a live service game, but having this much stuff you can just miss out on by not playing during a short period is too much in my opinion.
The Bilge Rate Weekenders aren't Weekenders, they feel like Once In a Blue Moon-enders. I can't find anywhere in the game to find upcoming events, it simply says "No Events Currently"
So I need to stop playing the game itself to go find forums or online posts on when events did happen. And no info on when they will happen again. I could be missing where they are, but if that's true then that in it's self is a problem in visibility.

Then while looking into the In Game Menus, I find the seasons deeds. 2 of the 4 deeds for Act Two I simply cannot do because they needed to be done during a weekender. I don't know when the next weekender is, and by looking online people seem to be saying that there wont be another during this current season. So I cannot do the tasks given to me because I just jumped back into Sea Of Thieves after a long while. That feels very un-friendly and like the game doesn't respect my time.

  • TL:DR

The previous seasons are lost media to those who didn't play them. Let us play them and earn cosmetics please.
Weekenders need to be more common so people that have schedules can play them.
Too much of this beautiful game has a cruddy Fear Of Missing Out feel to it.

  • So here comes the part where a swabbie gives suggestions on how they would make decisions on how to better the game and feedback to players:

Weekenders should to be more common. It's fine if they aren't every Weekend if you want it to be an Event. But having 1 every 2nd week of a month is still brief enough where people can plan ahead to enjoy the content you've made, and still rare enough to look forward to it. It gives 12 Times a year to log into Sea of Thieves and to have a blast doing wild Bilge Rat deeds!

  • I've seen that you're remaking the season deeds, but I see no reason you can't let players Select which Past Season they want to work on. You can make it a simple menu Treasures Of Seasons Pass where you have to go and select which season pass you want to work on progressing. This would give hundreds of hours for players to grind on to earn all the cosmetics they want, but still let you keep the Plunder Pass to earn all the hot new cosmetics, and do the new fun deeds to level up the upcoming new season passes.

  • One example I can think of right now is not being able to make your character, but then forcing people to pay money if they decide later that their Pirate isn't to their liking feels gross.

    "Forcing Players"
Nobody is forcing you to make a pirate and later change your mind.

The amount of quality of life options locked behind a pay wall feels too high.

    Such as?

The Bilge Rate Weekenders aren't Weekenders, they feel like Once In a Blue Moon-enders. I can't find anywhere in the game to find upcoming events, it simply says "No Events Currently"

S20 is suppose to have a ingame Calendar

When I say forcing players, I mean that it locks you into your pirate's physical shape. If you decide you dont like how they look with cosmetics later, you cant change how your pirate's body looks without paying for ancient coins

In regards to the quality of life stuff. I could have worded that better. There are the three items in that you can buy with ancient coins that could be simple simple Unpaid main menu screens. Redoing your pirate, having more than one pirate, and renaming your ship.

And with the weekenders, if it's supposed to have an in game calendar I couldnt find it. Ive looked for future weekender info and cant find it. I see where the upcoming Last Ship Standing stuff is, but no Weekender info which is where I was pointing at.

He's demand for processing power is reason behind hitregs. Most of he's training material were devs listing tk the feedback thats the reason why so many of hes comments... miss a mark.
