Request to upscale Pirate deletion security

  • Hello,

First off, I'm not entirely familiar with the usage of these forums.
But I've been redirected by a certain "Captain Savage" from SoT Player Support (much thanks for the reply to my mail), to the community forum, to place my request.

    Here goes;

I was wondering if it's possible to look in to a certain mechanic that creates more safety for pirate deletion.
To elaborate, I have quite the amount of hours in my main pirate, from day one. Quite the amount of commendations, cosmetics, etc. And recently I bought this permit to create an alt. character. But ever since, all my pirates have a deletion option, which makes me highly uncomfortable.
And what makes it so uncomfortable, is the fact that it's deleted with so much ease.

Mis clicks, children who are allowed to play a bit on their parents account, and suddenly just click something without reading, or other several scenario's that can lead up to years of progress that can be wiped out.

So I was wondering if security around pirate deletion can be upscaled a bit.

A email that's send to the user, with a numeral code that you need to enter, before you can confirm it.
    Or any other security method.

    I happily await response.

  • So. Because the children are so easy to access a parent’s account. It’s the games job to monitor them?

What about some of us that want to delete a pirate quickly? I don’t want to enter a silly code for the 4th time or an email I have to open elsewhere, look through junk to find a code and type side code.
    A lot of extra steps.

  • @burnbacon Deleting a pirate with a security code, or other means, can still be done fast.
If that's not fast enough for those that lack patience, learn to have it.

  • If it happens, support can reverse the deletion

  • @captain-knyt really?
Is there a source that can confirm that?

That option isn't there because you bought a second pirate slot. It's always been there. I think it requires 3 separate clicks to confirm - one to access the pirate deletion page, another one to click the button and a third to confirm.

children who are allowed to play a bit on their parents account

This is not technically allowed by the Microsoft Services Agreement.

  • 13+ is the acceptable age, which is still considered a child. So I didn't say anything out of line here.
And in my case a 13 year old with a slight mental disability cause of a brain tumor when he was 6.

So, if we're done dissecting my request to go off-topic, or give me any other arguments why this shouldn't be done, I'd like to get back to the topic; more security options like a digit code or mail, so years worth of playing, can't be erased that easily.

Yes, but still the issues follow.
Maybe some of us want to fully delete our accounts, quickly and fast. No access to our pc or phone at the time, and just want to simply click: Delete. Are you sure? Yes. Done.

Having extra security is always fine, but if it hinders everyone else who just wants to do something, it becomes too much, and it's up to the parents to make sure and prevent these things from happening.
If your scared they are going to delete something, especially a 13-year-old, who should know what happens when you click "Delete"? Monitor them before they load up. OR create a secondary xbox account with full parent control, which already does what you require. Pin/Emails/Secruity Code.
