Current Season 19 Plunder Pass and Doubloon Reset

  • Was very excited for the new season to start and I jumped in, bought my commemorative items (really love the sails) using my doubloons and since it was the start of another season, used some of my ancient coins to buy the Plunder Pass. As I played, I come to notice that the Plunder Pass is awarding doubloons for seasonal progression... but next month, with the deployment of Act 2, doubloons are going to be reset.

I only see two fair and acceptable options to remedy this issue.

1.) Don't reset the value of the Plunder Pass awarded Doubloons from the current season Plunder Pass when Act 2 launches.

    -OR-

2.) Please refund my ancient coins and cancel my Plunder Pass so I can wait until after the reset to purchase the Plunder Pass again.

I'm a nearly daily player (check my activity) and even if I have to wait until Act 2 starts, I'll have plenty of time to get max seasonal Renown.

However, upon submitting this as a Support Ticket, I was told to post it here for consideration, which is not a solution to the request at all, but here it is.

  • Doubloons earned with season pass will not be erased (drew stevens X account)

That wouldn't do anything, there are no doubloons awarded in the paid part of the Pass and your renown levelling would have the same speed.

    Also in the release notes:

Players earning Doubloons as Seasonal Renown rewards during Season 19 will retain these following the Doubloon reset on April 16th.

  • supposedly the reset is going to give us back whatever weve earned for the current pass? or they added some way of tracking like marking newly earned doubloons as new? who knows. typical rare lack of transparency and just points out another huge flaw with this whole concept. it really is the worst, most incorrect way to have tried to handle things. and then adding a cap when they havent removed any of the sources of doublooins in the first place. we get 50 for just logging in every month. then the pass itself flooding us with doubloons, gold, ancient coins so we dont even have to give rare real money...

so yea i dont know if the reset wll look at our pass progress and be like "ok they unlocked 300 doubloons so delete all. add 300. or if its actually tracking newly acquired (which i doubt?) its all just nonsense really.

the whole point of this reset is to make us have to grind for the new cosmetics yet we will be able to make enough over the weekender to buy all the cosmetics on offer in a few short hours.... like they are legit just deleting doubloons to make us play a few more hours. they had no goal past the deletion. even the main concept of it is ruined by the low price of everything on offer combined with a cap so the currency doesnt get "out of hand" again.... just let us buy hourglass levels. remove level purchasing limits. raise the prices. i dont know what they are doing or thinking but its wrong across the board. even this fomo 50k doubloon sword is now just going to look at our lifetime doubloons earned... which i guess they will use some kinda bot to scrape account data for commendations completed, cosmetics purchased etc to come up with some arbitrary total to determine who got the 50k and the majority of us who have been playing for a few years will now get this super rare status symbol sword just for having played a lot.

this has been the most nonsensical thing i have seen in a game

  • Thanks everyone, these answers are actual answers, not the replies I got from support which was:

"Go post this in the suggestions for future consideration as player support doesn't process feedback or suggestions."

They could of absolutely been helpful like you fine community members and pointed out, it was a misunderstanding on my part.

You're correct, the "paid" part of the seasonal rewards is actually just extra ancient coins and cosmetics, all the doubloons are in the top row as rewards for seasonal progression even without a plunder pass.

They also could have informed me that the doubloons earned with the season pass will not be erased... which is still a little confusing if the doubloons aren't actually part of the paid pass... but I'm going to assume Drew's statement means that the doubloons given for the season Renown is not getting wiped.

Neither of these answers were given by support... which is not a good sign of quality response or information.

    Once again, thanks all!

Eh, that was likely just what they say when someone asks questions like that - technical support is for technical questions, like game crashes and such. Still, I'm glad to have this information as well.

  • @roborob-r66y The most hilarious thing is that the "Doubloon Hoarder" title only costs a mere 50 doubloons!

Like really, it's a complete joke... new players can stumble into 50 doubloons in Safer Seas the first time they play even... like really, the hoarder title is that cheap that it makes the item prices obviously poorly thought out. If anything, the title should have been the 50k item and it shouldn't be based on lifetime earned but what you have banked... hence "hoarder" part of the title!

Then again, they removed 'voyage' from Voyages by introducing Diving... and that just left "s".
